10,000 rpm on flashed stock ecu??

Anyone know what the highest reving stock ecu evo is to date. One of my customers wants me to tune a 2.1 for him and he wants to rev it to 10k. No brainier on an AEM, but I'm a little nervous about the stock ecu.

Rescaling is a non issue for me, but my concern is the maps that we may no know about in the rom. It's an 03 8 so the trusty old 94170008 will be the rom of choice or the latest revision, don't recall the number at the moment.

Anyone have any thoughts or know of anyone that has rescaled the stock ecu up to 10K?

I don't see where it would be a problem technically ... you would be losing a bit of resolution though. With those types of numbers, you'd be much better off with a stand alone that has better resolution ... you'd end up with a more reliable tune.

Yeah, I already told him and standalone would be the best option but he has emissions to think about.

Like I said, I'm not worried about the work, just the fact that there may be a couple maps that are not defined in the rom that could lead to unforeseen events

I guess you are right ... you could crush the low RPM areas and the mid range areas that all run similar timing values to get the needed resolution up top.

That actually should give ignition control out to 10,500 to be accurate.

what about the HKS v-pro "stand alone". it acts as a stand alone but you leave the stock ecu in for mundane operations. im not sure if it does the obd2 stuff though, but i think it does.

i think sean at iveytune would know this for sure, he is a dealer of the v-pro's

I just though of what advance would be conservative at 10,000 rpm, 30º?

Its about the safest engine you can rev to that high with. Its almost a perfect square engine. 88mm stroke and anywhere from 87 to 87.5 bore. Its actually better to rev with then the 2.0.

So John, have you tuned one with rescaled rpm axis. My concern was never the tuning or the rescale but rather that there could be a map in the rom that we don't "know about" yet that would only be scaled up to stock levels.

I guess we will give a whirl and see how it goes

I'll have results in a bit, not sure how long it will take him to build the motor.
