Okay, I am new to this tuning thing and am about to ship my EVO to Germany. The company that is shipping it tells me the battery MUST be disconnected during transport on the boat. My question is...... will the ECU retain the tune that is in it now.... or will i have to reflash it once it gets here!?!?!?!? I am afraid it will lose the current tune in it.

and yes I have a copy of the tune/stock tune on my pc.

 

NO you won't lose it, have you ever hear people lose their tune when they have to replace battery, or to disconnect it when installing the parts?

even if you lose the tune, you have a copy on your PC what are your worry?

 

the worry i have is that the battery will be disconnected for 20+ days. Not a few minutes/hours. thanks for the insight though!

The tune is stored in the part of the ECU that is not battery dependent. It will lose some battery depedent data (maybe last fuel trim information?), but not the tune.
