Retune for season change? Suggestion please!
Do you guys retune for season change?
For example:
I had my car tuned for 11.5 afr throughout the band in the winter season in 18-22 degree celsius weather.
Now the summer is here, and in temperatures of 30-35 degreeC, I am seeing 11.0 afr all through. (ALL other things were unchanged)
My question is: Do I lean it out to 11.5, or do I leave it at 11.0 to let the richer afr cool the combustion, to compensate for the hotter weather(=hotter intake temp)?
Funny thing is, I am also able to run higher boost without knock than in the winter.
Thanks.

Seasonal changes in VE should be adjusted in the tune.
For example, as a feature we offer free retunes to all of our customers after they have had a custom dyno tune. That includes if they want to turn the boost up, fule change (race fuel) or climactic conditions.
The procedure is pretty straight forward, depending on the inlet temp, airflow and boost actually seen in the manifold, slight A/F changes will need to be done. TIMING lead is a VERY important factor in the summer months. Right now in more mild weather you may be able to run similar boost levels, but your lead may have to adjusted some in the hotter months.
This is not set in stone however, EVERY car reacts differently to environmental and climactic conditions.

The main focus is the summer and winter blend gasoline. Winter blend gas tends to be more volatile than summer, this could explain why your able to run a bit more boost in the summer.
Actually i have asked this question before, do we even know how significant the difference is? Some people even said they dont change it between the seasons anymore. Ragardless Cali gas still sucks.

Is everyone seeing this difference from season changes? Or do you guys just let it run a bit richer in hot weather??
Is there any way of turning this feature off in the ECU, i.e. temperature compensation for fuelling?

Tune it between winter and summer (spring or fall). That's the longest part of the year anyway where the car is driven most.
This way there is not much temp swing as you go to summer or winter.
Here in the midwest where temp ave goes from 30F in winter and 90F in summer, I would tune for when it is about 60F. That is about this time of the year so I'm getting a tune now.
