AFR advice please

Please take a look at the Map Trace and let me know your thoughts on the AFRs I have. I'm not sure if I'm running too lean on spool up and at peak boost. I'm running on E85.

Thanks in advance

100-180 do not look right.

Tom,

It looks like you might have lean spool on still and that would account for your lean numbers between 100-180. As far as spool numbers in the mid range above that (12.5-12.7) that is about right on E85 and then 11.6-12.0 out the top seems to be best power on E85/E98 depending on what form of the "drug" you have.

It looks like its only holding that leaness for a few pounds of boost though so its not 100% critical, but it all depends on how fast its rolling into "real" boost at 3000. I would richen it up to no leaner than 13.0 all the way across though.

What are your open loop throttle tables set at?....... 13 gas a/f would be 8.6 e85 that would be fine for spool up. You don't spool it fat like you would with gas. Those 11.6's in the 300 to 340 are a little fat that's a 7.5 e85 fuel ratio or that's like a .78 lambda. Max power rich is 7.0 .71 lambda. 8.4 for max power lean .86. If that was my map I would lean it out in the 4k to 5k range 320 to 340 load. I would try to hit an even 12. I would leave the 5500 + range alone and log it again and see what happens.

Thanks for the tips guys, very useful.

So the 14.7s around 100 and 2500rpm should be lowered to get into richer sooner, as well as lowering the other numbers in the 2500-3000 to get around 13. I've never messed with any of the 14.7s, just always left them, but I can see that needs adjusting.

These are my open loop load tables.

Aaron, I have lean spool enable and disable set to 1500.

If you set your TP load tables down in the 45 to 60 range in both low and high tables from 2500 to 4k it will allow you to instantly step on the gas and go strait to the back ground map. You can dial the map in the lower load ranges faster that way. I have mine set so if I'm crusing along I can just crack the throttle and have instant power.

Also this Smoothing and graphing post can help dial you in even better.

4000- 320/340 lean to 11.8

Then I would lean 5500+ a touch. Our cars seem to max power at 12.0 but 11.7-11.8 is still plenty (within a few hp) and adds that little bit of safety. All in all you could probably leave everything other than the 4k and be within 10hp, and that would just be some torque. With the one 11.9 and the quick blip to 11.6 it might be really close as it is without getting "crazy". Take a tenth at a time or so.
