Knock on Deceleration?

OK, to start off I have a 2.4L Dodge Stratus with a SOHC, forged internals and just swapped from an automatic to a Manual transmission. My wideband is acting up, I just ordered a new sensor and it'll be here this week. I've been driving it around out of boost for about 2 days, but today got into a little bit, ~5psi. I have an EVO ECU and just upgraded from 94170008 to Tephra's 94170015 patch 5.10 The NLTS is disabled along with the Intercooler sprayer stuff since I don't have the switches/sprayer on my car. I also don't have the speedo hooked up yet, still figuring out how to hook that up. I am thinking its the cause of this problem, because the ECU didn't know I was decelerating.

Ok, I was driving and have been getting about 2-3 counts of knock average from 2800-3500rpm or so and 100-130 load. Then just now on the way home I knocked after releasing the throttle, the CEL flashed, but I was already decelerating.

Now I have not been able to reproduce this situation, and since this occurance knock is back to its origional 2-3 counts. I'm keeping it pretty gentle, especially since I'm breaking in the new engine and clutch ect. Any suggestions? OH, and I think there may have been a hic-up in the logging because just a second earlier it detected like 10,000 load.

As for the load, ive read that their can be mis-alignment of the data during a 2-byte request, i would get random spikes in load also, but not to 10k. LOL. since your running the tephra mods, try the 1-byte load mod, It gives the entire range of load (0-319) but a little reduced accuracy (~1 unit of load off from 2-byte). As for the knock, If your afr is good then i would look into ign timing. Maybe run some searches for lift-off knock.

Yea I tried pasting the line he posted into the evoscan XML, and when I tried to start it over again it acted like it was installing and said something about getting a licensed version? I dunno, maby I did it wrong? I put it inline with the other data items.

What knock sensor are you using? Thought the plugs might be similar, I believe obdI, obdII (99-00) and evo knock sensors are all very different. Your knock filter tables may also be waaaay off if you are not using the proper sensor.

I'm using the stock sensor that came with my motor. Its a 2003 car. Do the people with 2.4L engines use the EVO sensor or the 2.4L sensor? Other than this one instance, the knock has been pretty consistant, and not usually over 3 counts. I pull a little timing and richen it up, and the knock pretty much goes away.

I have both an Evo4 (older motor) and the stock Evo7 knock sensors and they both are identical in every way. I have used both on the car and they give the same readings.

Being an aussie I have no idea what a Stratus is (we dont get them), but if your engine block is different to a 4G63 then the Evo knock calibration will be completely different.

My motor is a 2.4L, and is identical to the blocks/cranks that are used to make a 4g63 stroker, or just a plain 2.4L build. The only difference is my car came with it.

Basically the block is about 6mm taller and the bore 87mm, and crank 100mm, which is adds a little displacement.

I do have the ROM from my stock maps that came in the car, maby I could compare the maps, only my maps only went to 100% Load, hence I moved over to the EVO ECU to be able to tune for boost.

Not sure if that sensor matches or not... but you should match the knock sensor the the ECU (not the motor) unless you are running AEM and can use different sensors. In any case, it may help you to look up and see if anyone with that motor is running different knock sensor filter maps.
