error code

sorry if im being a noob- but been out the game for a lil- when i downloaded ecuflash for my new laptop - everytime i try to open a map it says

"Ecuflash could not recognize this ROM image using any of the current definitions. You can choose one of the following options:
O Abort using this ROM image
O Use wizard to create a new definition (NOT RECOMMENDED!!! - FOR DEVELOPERS ONLY)"

any help would be appreciated

Have you ever had your car flashed by another tuner? It's very possible that they changed the ECU ID in the ROM image, so that EcuFlash doesn't immediately recognize it.

If you can post your ROM image somewhere (on a file sharing site or some such), someone can take a quick peek at it and confirm whether or not this is what happened to you.

Zip it up, and toss it on Megaupload.

That being said, if you're ABSOLUTELY sure the car hasn't been tuned by a "professional" (I use the term loosely, in this case), can you check the "ROM Info" section of the EcuFlash interface for us? In the tree in the lower-left of the EcuFlash window, it's the very first entry; just expand that, and tell us what the "Internal ID" and "ECU ID" entries are?

Also, what year is your Evo? (You might want to fill out that part of your profile on here, giving a few details about the year and model of Evo you have, so that when you ask questions, people can tell what car you have easily.)

nah he doesn't have a definition ...

best bet is to follow the wizard (define from scratch)

when it asks you for the locaiton of the ID , put in 0xF52 and length of 4.

THEN tell US what the ROMID is...

it would let me choose 0xF52 but it would let me choose 0dF52 and length 4 and once i did that - it wont let me open any maps- i really think my new virus scan pulled some definitions out or something
I am going to uninstall and redownload
