Looking for a good map...

EDIT: If you can do the ECU based boost control, the new mod that Tephra gave to us(3 port solenoid, and 4 bar map sensor, higher WGA...) and include it in your custom map, will you please PM me.

Thanks in advance.

Hello there all. Its been a few. Last questions I asked were for the tuning specialist. I have another...

With the mods I have, I am looking for a non-stock map for the evo8. Something that I can see the difference over stock in respect to numbers and where the portions of the map change. I do plan on purchasing a map, or having one done at a tuner. Right now, i have a few bolt ons, i.e full exhaust. TBE plus the turbo manifold, on a stock turbo, and a large aftermarket intercooler, 3.5" thick. I plan on adding more to it, but right now my gas mileage is killing me, so it needs some sort of tune asap. If any one can help, send me a mild map. Something that will get a me alittle use out of my exhasut, but also help the gas mileage factor, that would be sweet. Thank you.

I'll be the first to start advising against running anyone else's tune that was not made for your car. Aside from that we don't know anything about your car, specific mods list, or ROMID.

Most importantly here... if your gas mileage is horrible it is not related to having a stock tune. You have a mechanical issue that should definitely be fixed, especially before going more aggresive with a tune.

Do you have a wideband? The car should almost always be targeting 14.7:1 (stoich) during part throttle conditions, if you're running richer than that while driving normally, you could have a bad front o2 sensor or some other issue.

Just bought a new 02 when I changed out the 02 housing this winter. I did this full exhaust in the middle of winter. I also moved into the mountains from Cali. So any help would be great. The Wide Band is on my list of mods. Right now it is the exhaust and the IC that are not stock. When I got it, it had a map on it. THen a code got thrown, and i took it to the stealership, and they flashed it with the latest manufacturer map. Lost power and gas mileage after they did it.

those mods shouldn't affect your gas mileage that much unless you have upgraded fuel pump and/or injectors. Your car A/F may actually be leaner.

Ok, good point. I know that my muffler is blacker than it has ever been, I smell gas in the exhaust. I heard that a tune, even a mild one, can be done to improve gas mileage and a little power. I figured I might see if any one has one that is a shareable one, like some of the ones that work for all the programers that are hand held...i wont mention names. Either way, yes I understand there is a deffinitions file, that relates to the country of destination. Curiosity asks if I can just upload the JDM tune, or the Euro FQ300 tune. I have both. THe map is the factory map for the same year as my 2004. So I am trying to ask questions, and get a little help from the masters. I do intend full heartidly on buying a tune, once I have my mods done. Currenlty, I have just moved, and finally back to work. Engine work is going to hold off until I can save the money. I was hoping there could be a pay it forward kind of thing. Granted, I know several of you make money off of tuning, im not trying to exploit your business. Just asking for help, and any freebies you can share. Thanks again for your help. Will deffintly repay the favor if I can.

I must say, my programming in this sense, is only relative to a Power Commander for my RC51. I understand the map, RPM to GAS etc. Well kinda. Either way, in that situation, the forum guys all share base maps for base mods. Hoping I could find that here.

Although Evo's are tuned quite rich from the factory, if you are extremely rich you should do a boost leak test before even trying a different tune. A boost leak would change your tune (richer) considerably. The bigger the leak, the richer you'll be. If you retune and then fix a boost leak later, your tune will be too lean.

Thank you, good to know. Question, boost leak, would that be an atmosphere leak, or internal that I wouldnt hear it. From an external exhaust sound, I hear nothing that leads me to worry... Is this something to do with the BOV? Its still a stock BOV. I was looking a tthe o'l standby of using an EVO IX BOV, or should I just purchase aftermarket totally. Its on my list...

If your BOV is recirculated like it should be, I wouldn't think it would have a big effect on your AFR, but it will definitely hurt your performance. I'd say go with the IX BOV.

you need a WB other wise dont touch your AFRs its not adviseable, i dont mind answering any questions you got (or at least the ones i can answer ) . can you just borrow an external WB? and email tune is pretty cheap and you can always do one now and most tuners will give you a reduced price in the future.

Thank you Rolly. Good to know. Just moved to the area I am in, so still trying to find paople that may be able to help with that. The AEM UEGO with Guage is on my list as well. Hopefully with taxes coming, I can get some more of the bolt-ons that will help for that tune.

AEM UEGO is the way to go. had an LC-1 but swapped. its good to have a gauge in the car to look at constantly and IMO the engineering on the AEM is better.

get a tune bro, its a 150-200 USD investment (e-mail tune) that can save your engine.

if u want some help feel free to PM me though..
