logworks3 time delay..

hi,

I have noticed that on my logs there is a delay of about .3 sec between the signals from the logworks chain (wideband, acceleration, EGT, MAP in my case) and the data it receives from the openport (engine ECU data from the OBD port)

did anyone else notice it?

yes it has been noted. Although the innovate wideband is fast the interface with openport doesn't allow that speed through.

Logworks isn't that good for logging numerous OpenPort channels. 3 or less (excluding 2 bytes) seem to do just fine

for me, it would be easier just to shift the openport log for .3 sec..

ok, I wil try to log less channels, thanks for the tip..

Logworks2.0 does it too.

It is debateable of weither you are seeing the lag associated with the exhaust gases reaching the sensor (which would mean the time delay is relative to exhaust gas velocity...basically power and exhaust size) or if it is a software related delay. I have noticed the time delay to vary a bit 0.2-0.5 seconds. Never paid attention to the number of channels I was logging though and that may have been the source of variance.

The way I have delt with it is to establish the time shift, export to .dif, then open in excel and delete the first few rows (up to the sample equal to the time shift) of the openport data to get it to line up. Then scan to the bottom of the log and remove the extra AFR and time data.

I am not worried about the EGT, my biggest problem was the boost curve in relation to the RPM's and throttle..

in my graphs I had a major boost drop at 7000 RPM and I was holding 100% throttle until 7300 (let's say).... and in the graph you can see that the boost drop happens .3 or so before throttle goes from 100% to 12% (zero throttle.. )

if I presume, and I have good reason to believe so, that there is a time delay, then I am not worried about my boost perfromance..

otherwise, I am very pleased with LW3 and the whole innovate package I have.. I had some problems with my laptop and the way the rs232 - USB interface works, but after I figured the right way to plug things into my laptop, now everything works fine..
