Help - Bogging when cold

This bogging issue is only happening when the engine is cold. When I first start driving and I start lightly accelerating it feels like I am driving with the brakes on. The RPM do not want to increase but the exhaust note get louder just as if I was trying to accelerate with the brakes on. This started happening after I rescaled my loads. From my log it looks like a timing issue. It looks like when I hit right around 100 load my timing drops way low. I dont know why the timing would be so far off from the map....? My AFR's look ok, i dont think its a fueling issue.
Anyone else ever experienced this?
Thanks for your help guys.

never experienced this, however, you should try when the car is fully warmed up and see if this occurs.

the car is fine when it starts to warm up. this only happens within the first minute approximately after COLD startup.... there is no issue when the car is warm.

similar happens with me, but i stay in vacuum (when driving and the car is not fully warmed up). car sounds like its breaking up but i dont loose power at all. Also if i turn on my AC on cold startup the idles becomes somewhat unstable.

could be a boost/vacuum leak have u explored that option?

NOTE: this only happens on cold start. once i am warm no problems at all.

There are separate timing warm-up maps that retard timing when the car is cold. After you rescaled the load you most likely hit cells with more retard. Do a search and find those map definitions for your ROM and either adjust the timing in the map or reduce the retard with percentage table.

The evo hates being driven when cold temp!

You need to warm it up for about 3-5mins before driving it, trust me... this will solve your bogging issue.

thanks, ill check into that...makes alot of sense. hope i can find that table.
I should try flashing back to an old map with stock load scaling and see if the problem goes away. that would be good to know. im pretty sure it is, but i need to be 100% sure.

^ Na... I've had this issue for years. If you log the car when cold you'll see its actually running half the timing it should be.

When going down the street in 2nd gear at 3k rpm (cold) you can tell the car is crabby. Once warm its smooth as silk. At first I thought it was my aggressive mivec but going back to the stock mivec map didn't change anything.

This is why I let the beast warm up before pulling out of the garage...

mplspilot is spot on. When you rescaled the Load you should have checked the other maps that use the ignition Load scale, such as the EGR Timing and Warmup Retard maps.

The easy fix for the retard problem is to zero the control map for it. Do some searching and you will find it. Zero it out and the car runs almost the same cold as it does hot. The map is only there for emissions purposes, to help dump heat into the exhaust to warmup the cat converter from cold start.

I would have posted the maps here for you, but as I have said many times before no ROM ID info no help.
