Remove P0172 code from ECU ROM

Hi Everyone,

I've had my '05 Evo 8 throw this code for the past 5-6 months and I seem to have exhausted all the possibilities of fixing this error (everything form searching on forums to having various Mitsu dealers try to find the problem) (the car is stock)

I need this so I can pass smog, and after 1/2 a year of going to mechanics and asking the court to give me more time on an almost monthly basis I've lost all hope of being able to fix this and the only way out I see is to re-code the ECU to not throw the 0172 System Too Rich (Bank1) error.

To be honest I know very little about flashing ECUs (I've just started doing research today) but from what I've read on other post I've seen info on disabling other code so (such as rear O2 sensor removal and EGR) I think the same strategy can be applied for p0172 ... I know that I will need EcuFlash to edit, download the ROM that's currently on my EVO and edit the xml assosiated with that version for with the proper periphery tags.

Can any one give me a line of xml code that I can use to propery disable to p0172 error? (am I correct to assume that I could then take this code copy/paste it into the xml assosiated with my ROM and rebuild the flash?)

Any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,
Ben

you can disable it in the ecu periphery 2 FCA set bit 8 to 0.

Thank you, this will give me something to work with ... but are you sure that's not bit 7?
