phantom knock i guess?

hey did a really long log yesterday trying to get my trims and i had to speed up at times to merge and avoid idiots sudden braking and im using the tephra 5.10 on my evo 8 ecu and the check engine light started going nuts (it flashes when i have knock). but anyway i went home looked at the log and not im terrified to go wot because of the knock. my timing in the log doesn't follow my ignition map. so i was just looking 2 the timing advance and it didn't even change it much where there was high knock... like if you have 11* of knock where your suppose to have lets say a 22* time adv. it will pull the timing advance to 11* right? but here is the files and the pic of my stock evo8 ignition map.

o use excel to oped the log (which i chopped up because its do long)

I am a bit confused by your question. Are you getting knock all of the time, or only at certain times?

I didn't look at the logs though....I was hoping you could clarify a bit more for me as to the exact problem

A hint for you to get more help is to not write long paragraphs. Use short easy questions and develop the conversation through multiple back and forth conversation.

To varify it isn't pahntom knock you need to log knock count and knock voltage. It could be that your knock sensor is picking up too much noise.

Which rom are you using? I know you said an evo 8 rom, but more specifically what rom ID?

umm sorry.. i get carried away. but im using 9653. and from spool upward it knocks like crazy . i have an exhaust leak in the dp and it rattles around those areas. so i just spent alot of time reading through and all and adjusted the knock threshold and multiplier. with my previous ecu ive never gotten more than 2 counts on 93 oct.

I don't know if this is phantom knock from the way your data looks but a few thing that I did notice is that your timing might be a bit high (even though your maps looks ok,) maybe try adjusting it closer to TDC little by little and see if you get less counts ... also you engine temp seems high, even with the outside air at ~100 F my engine temp does not go over 203 (usually it's at 195)

Also do you have AFR info from your log that you can share?

Second, have you adjusted your Low Octane Fuel Map and Timing Map? (it might be better to leave that alone, you don't want to hit knock from Hi Octane and continue to do from when switched to the Lo Octane map ... you probably know this though)

for reference ... here is my current hi octane and ignition map: http://img44.yfrog.com/img44/2664/newfuelmap.png (I'm in California so only 91 octane for me but with this I don't get more than 2 counts of knock, sometimes 3 ... I guess it still has a bit of work to be done :-p )

hey thanks umm... i did a wot pull today with the timing was spot on with the hi oct ignition map. but i do understand what you mean by they are high... ill post a log in a bit of my wot log. and i have not touched any of the maps there stock evo 8 9653 maps... im just trying to get my scaling down ... and i dont have a wbo2 im currently unemployed so as soon as i get a job that and a catless downpipe will be the first. also.. if i do a wot pull and it saying knock is around 11... woudnt the ecu add 11* ?

I'm not really sure as to the math behind the ECU's knock protection ... (I'm sure you know this) but generally the ECU will take values from the low octane fuel map and ignition timing map in order to protect the motor when knock is detected while using the high octane settings.

I looked at your new log and it looks good ... only 1 count of knock; but you mentioned that you "lowered the knock sensitivity." What do you mean by that? Did you change any of the ECU settings relating to knock?
