Windows XP or Windows 7 for EvoScan and EcuFlash
Hey guys!
Got a new netbook and now I wonder if anybody is using Windows 7 yet for flashing and so on?
Got the 1.3 cable and ideally would like to install Windows 7. But I don't wanna go through all the hassle only to find out that either EvoScan, EcuFlash or both of them aren't compatible yet.
Anybody tried it yet?
(they do work on my desktop's win7 but obviously that never interfaces with the car... I only use it to edit maps, view logs and so on...)

Used ecuflash on my windows 7 laptop seems to be fine. Evoscan 2.6 i haven't even tried yet will let you know possibly by the end of today.
As a side note yes windows 7 is very tasty IMO worth installing but if your content with your previous system just use it for now.

I use Win 7 for both ECUFlash and Evoscan and also for scantech....it all works fine.
And yes Win7 is worth installing. Yes. Its looks like Vista but light like XP.

The RTM version of Windows 7 contains a compatibility mode that runs programs in an XP type environment. Those with connections who downloaded it before the RTM version became available may need to download a patch or something.
But it it works fine in Windows 7, there's no need to mess with the XP compatibility thing.

RTM is release to manufacturing and in lay mens terms means the final release to the world that all can install and buy.
I have been using windows 7 since the beta release for flashing and also with evoscan, it has been no problem at all. Have to agree with what has been said, like vista but much lighter and certainly faster.

Thanks for the info. I may buy a new laptop in a couple months and its goodot know that Windows 7 works well with our programs
If it works with Vista (like most all the tuning software does now a days) it will work with Windows 7. For the record, I am running Windows 7 RC on my computer and haven't had ANY issues with the software (EvoScan and ECUF.
Just to support that case I'm using the RTM and it works flawlessly with ecuflash and the latest evoscan.
I'm gonna install win 7 in a week. Using XP for the windows side on my mac, and it has such $hitty battery life. My bro has win 7 on his mac and said that battery life was way better.
Can't wait!
