JDM 3 Bar vs OMNI 4 Bar

I am new to tuning and realizing that i should invest in getting a new map sensor. after doin some searching/reading i see there are mutliple options for getting a new map sensor (jdm, omni and gm). For the JDM/OMNI sensors, other than boost pressure and price, what is the difference between the two and which is preferred or used the most?

thanks for the info guys

Omni 7bar :P

if you are going to be running more than 30psi of boost then go the 4bar - otherwise go the 3bar

pretty simple

Doesn't really matter which sensor you get as far as installation goes. It's all in your setup and how much boost you plan to run. The guru's here have the scalings for all the sensors. I don't think there is one sensor that is "better" than the other.

x2

I got a great deal on a JDM one so that is what I have, but Omni ones are alot cheaper then the OEM JDM one. Go to maperformance.com and you can buy an omni one for around $120 I think.

I paid right at $100 even on stikiller.com for my OMNI 4-bar. There's a handfull of threads on here already about speed density that I found very informative when doing my conversion. After switching to the dark side, I don't see who the retard was that thought it would be a good idea to use a MAF instead of a MAP...

I got the Omni 4-bar since I planned on running higher boost. From a tuning stand-point, it was one of the best mods I could do. I'm currently only using it for logging, but may switch to speed density in the future.

for speed density you will need an IAT sensor as well. There like $20 though.

Both work rather well up to 30psi. The Omni has been tested by Mellon, MFRED, and others to a verified 40 psi. I am utilizing it on 23 psi based boost control. Works well, my logs hold the boost at approx .01 betwen guage pressure and log pressure. SSo it is very solid little unit. I can't speak for the JDM, for I just bought my MAP sensor a few months ago. There is ROM support for both, since they are becoming main stream.

I'm going to order a Omni 4 bar tomorrow for logging purposes and ECU control boost. I may convert to speed density at a later point right now I'm still happy with the MAF

4 bar is the only way to go. The JDM "3" bar (its actually more like a 3.25) runs out at 33ish so unless this is all you plan on running for awhile, I'd do the 4 bar and buy one less part in the long run.

Kalvico 5 bar sensor yes its overkill and I hope the work i put in it will help other people looking to run stupid levels of boost on the stock ecu out .
