OP, I've actually made high boost passes on the evo 8 ecu. Keep the stock knock settings, trust me, they are fine for your setup.

Thanks. Any thoughts on what I'm dealing with here? I'm not sure that the sensor is torqued right so I'll be checking that.

Hey thanks for not being a dick about it. Most people wouldn't have handled themselves like you did there and i appreciate that.

the only reason i told him to do it is because the knock is out of boost @ 63 load.. which was happening to alot of dsms that did the swap.. so high boost isnt the issue realy its out of boost/ low boost/low load knock .. thats all i was saying..and thank you for clarifying that the knock sensor is a little more complicated than a microphone. but getting a evo8 knock sensor would b ideal i need to do that as well just havent gotten around to it.

I'm just here to say that I've ran 30+ psi on the stock knock tables, however I run the evo 8 knock sensor. No problems at all in boost, partial boost, or in vacuum driving at any RPM.

Yes, I have many many many logs of that when I used to run a 1g ecu back in 2001. Its called phantom knock and that is what you have a classic case of. For different cars it is different things. For me I ended up replacing my lash adjusters (improperly called lifters) and that fixed my issues. The lash adjuster issue usually rises its ugly head when the car is really warm (high oil temps) and you are cruising at a steady rpm for a little bit. It will come and go with no apparent reason.

Also check for metal on metal rubbing such as the exhaust or heat shields. DSM's like to rub the downpipe on the front subframe and sway bar as it does stick down a bit.

Just make sure the knock sensor is snug so that it won't come loose, I think the manual calls for 20 or 30 something foot lbs.
