Although the aem/kalvico is a good unit, I originally bought my sensor for my 2g dsm and never got around to using it.

I think a lot of people end up being like this too

I used the 5 bar sensor over a year ago now because I had an extra one at the time and wanted to push the limits of the speed density setup. I don't think anyone knew about the omni products at the time when I got started hehe!

I probably would have went omni if i did.

Since the AEM unit is so expensive to get going I've already started making the compatibility settings for the 7 bar omni unit which is in another thread here. Hopefully we can encourage more radical usage of the speed density platform like AWD did with their drag car.

I'm initially getting this so I can log boost, but I really want to go to SD as well.

Nice dude

You set the voltages up a little differently than I did but it obviously works

Thx! If you wouldn't mind posting the values you used, it would be nice to have options, so down the road if we discover one is a little better than the other we can have all the data in one place.

I might even edit the first post actually, to include alternate values....that might get confusing though?

I'll have to right them out again, but more or less I ran the voltage out versus the comp map and then compared numbers that I know from the JDM 3 bar and the Omni 4 bar. More or less exactly like I had done originally on the Omni 4 bar.

Hey john do you happen to know what the meaning of the map vs baro setting and map comp values are related to?

If they are voltage readings 8 or 10bit

If they are compared to a certain good value like 0psi or something.

Basically just change your MAP 16bit scaling and reinsert your values and you should be golden.

Good question! That rom does NOT have support for a map sensor at all, so you simply need to update Evoscan w/ the new formula and that's it! If you are running a speed density rom you can adjust the MAP16bit scaling and copy/paste your old values in, that's it!

Thanks for the hasty response.

I do not have Evoscan yet, but plan on getting it soon. I am putting an Evo8 ecu in my 91 Talon and plan on running SD then. I have a few other questions that maybe you can help me with.

1) I've seen people running Evoscan and EcuFlash, are both necessary?

2) I am planning on using the 96530006, Option 5 from here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...hramod-v7.html
In the ROM (opened in text editor) I see a hand full of scaling adjustments for different MAP sensors, but not the AEM 5bar. Do I need to add anything here or will I just make the adjustments/changes to the tables once I open Evoscan?

1) Both are necessary. One is for modifying the rom, one for logging. Plenty of info on how those work in this forum though

2) All you need to adjust in the actual rom is MAP 16bit (see my previous post). That rom is setup for the JDM 3.3 bar map sensor, so you'll need to note the values when you first open the rom, change the scaling, then reopen ecuflash and the rom and put the values back in as they get scrambled. I think it has options for the omni 4bar included but not sure what else.

I just finished checking calibration of my brand new AEM 5 bar boost gauge. Used a Fluke 725 with a 700P06 pressure module (0.025% uncertainty, 0.01 resolution, 100 PSIG full scale range). These are my findings below. Sucks the AEM doesn't have more resolution in RS232. ACTUAL is the Fluke, AEM 5 BAR is the INDICATED. Recorded in PSIG.

13.7 VOLTS

ACTUAL - INDICATED
10.70 - 10
20.47 - 20
30.64 - 30
40.58 - 40
50.60 - 50
