Apologies for the off topic noobish question, but I had no luck in "engine turbo drive train" and evoM's brain trust seems to reside here.

Are front axles compatable between Evo 8s and 9s? Given ACD or 5sp/6 spd differences? It would seem unlikely, but I have not been able to find out conclusively one way or the other.
TIA

You'll probably be lambasted for posting in the wrong forum, but just check out the part numbers for each. If they are the same you are good, if they are different you have some investigation to perform.

Give me two hours and I'll give you the answer... left my personal computer at home when I left for lunch...

Are you looking for a specific transmission, 6 or 5 speed? And are you looking specifically for acd to acd or non to acd?

I don't think anyone has found the correct definition settings for swapping front axles sorry

LOL what box do I check for evo 9 axles?

I have an 03' 8 with a popping CV joint/ ripped boot and a good set of otherwise unspecified "evo 9 axles" sitting in my garage... Thus the inquiry.

Thanks guys and again my apologies for the OT.

It's a periphery bit setting man ... you just missed it.

Just a wild guess, but I think the '05's would fit, but not the '03/'04 since the TC design changed. As far a 5 to 6 speed, it may be the same. But, like most others, I've never dealt with it.

You could try calling your local parts store and cross referencing.

1 more hour and I'll have an answer... All 03's (USDM) don't have ACD correct?
Dan (So used to the EDM VII's that USDM VIII's feel as if they are from the wrong country)

According to Mitsubishi ASA all Evo's 03-06 use the same axles. Part numbers MR580504 and MR580503.

On a side note, they are not the same as Evo VII axles. Proceed with caution when installing just to be safe though!
