ECU cant be read or logged with Evoscan
RESOLVED: ECU cant be read or logged with Evoscan
Hey guys, im having a problem trying to get my ecu to be read. Its a 03 evo ecu in my eclipse gsx. It gives an error code of 0001 no response then quits while trying to read in ecuflash.
And while in evoscan, itll give me an error of cannot convert string &H to integer.
Anyone have any ideas? I dont have an unlocker. Where should i get it? Im trying to disable the immobilizer but i cant connect to the ecu. I know the obd2 wires are firmly connected. I took them out and reseated them. I also know i have 5V to the tactrix OP2 cable and 12V to the ecu. My battery is at 13.X V and the key in the "ON" position.
Any recommendations?

Seems like you may have a wiring problem.
You only need a few wires connected to log:
2x +12v Supply (Pins 12 & 25)
2x Ground (Pins 13 & 26)
OBD Data (Pin 62)
Ignition Switch (Pin 82)
Ignition Switch is the easiest one to miss.
You should have +12v to pin 82 (Ign Switch) with the key in the On position.
You can tell if the OBD2 port is getting proper power and ground by plugging a OP 2.0 into it, but not into the computer. If it lights up, your good.

Well, i didnt check those wires til tonight and i know for sure that the ecu is getting power to those unlike they were with the 2g ecu in. The only thing we didnt check was the obd data wire. We tested continuity but not any voltage. What should that be?
What kind of draw should be on the cable? When we plug it in it doesnt turn on and the power wire goes from 13V to 4.25 and it still doesnt turn on. However, the OP 2.0 works in my friends 2g dsm. But his doesnt drop voltage when he plugs it in. But mine does. WTF!!!
So we got the ecuflash working. We had to cut the pin 16 power wire and wire it to the fuse box. I still dont know why that wire draws so much nor do i know where it goes. But it is working. But the car will not start after changing the immob hex to 0x0040. Before it was 94b6 or something like that. Also, evoscan still doesnt want to connect. Gives a wierd error code of cannot convert string to integer. Im going to try an older version.
Well just to let everyone know this is resolved. It ended up being a problem with the wiring which still haunts the ****ing dash harness somewhere. I dont where but there is a draw on the wiring so we ended up running a wire from the fuse panel 12V constant to pin 16. Whatever. And then we reinstalled evoscan and everything worked?? But it works now.
