To get your serial back you can log into your account and request the serial automatically emailed to you.

Hamish is beyond hammered right now. You can also try to skype him. I know its annoying but just be a little patient.

I don't remember having to do anything special for it to detect mine, but I'll try it out today and check as I haven't needed to use it in quite a while.

You have to set the port in windows to 1 - 4 in Device manager, Scantect only has those as options. Its a bit of a PITA, my windows 7 machine would not do it, fortunately I have an old XP laptop handy

thanks i got it to work today with my tactrix cable and an ftdi driver ebay vagcom cable. i had to manually set the ports with my win7 turd. same thing with romraider but ecuflash and evoscan said "sure".
to anybody wondering why. this is a quick way to check dtc's and reset the light but more importantly tells whether or not your monitors are ready which in ny is a pass/fail difference. i am new to this forum and have recently bought an evo 8, the transition from subie speak to evo has been near seamless thanks to this community

ports

How did you manually set the port between 1-4 in device manager on windows 7? When I click on the tactrix cable it only gives me an option to reload the drivers.

for me it was open scan tech then options>port/device then in that window .select tactrix cable, auto request delay then comport x and finally apply. i have comport settings 1-16
does your cable work with everything else?
i may have inadvertantly implied i adjusted in win 7 when really it was in scantech

scantech

Yes, my cable works with ecuflash and evoscan. I'll try every port in scantech to see if one works.

scantech

None of the ports worked, so I ended up using an old laptop that was running vista. Loaded ecuflash, evoscan, and scantech and all three work perfectly. Scantech fires up right away without changing any settings.

update

Hello, I am running Scantech on an old VISTA OS laptop.

Tactrix 1.3 cable says it is on port 0001 in the properties.

Scantech 0.77 launches. When I try to connect to the car it keeps saying the hardware isn't configured. I have tried the Jeff and the Tactrix and auto detect. Tried setting the port manually to 1 with auto speed. Nothing seems to make it want to talk.

Any ideas?
