High idle on cold start - TephraMod v7
High idle on cold start - TephraMod v7
This high idle on cold starts problem is happening on my '04 RS. I have an Injen intake, Muse piping, DC Sports exhaust, and TephraMod v7 running the MAF.
I just data logged with Evoscan, and my TPS is 13% at close, and 100% at WOT. I verified with my friends 100% factory '05, and his TPS is 13.3% closed, and 100% at WOT, so they are basically exactly the same.
My symptoms are as follows:
When I start my car in the morning, my idle is at 1800 - 2200 rpm. When I start my drive, the idles hang between shifts at 2200 rpm or so, and at the stop light, it will stay at 2200 rpm, and slowly come down to 1400 or so, after 8 - 10 seconds.
One the car fully warms up, it idles between 800 and 1000, depending on conditions.
This doesn't seem to be the same as others having throttle hang issues with their tune. My idle never climbs past 2200 rpm, and my higher rpm shifts are fine, without any hang up in the higher rpm band. I have no boost leaks up to 30 psi.
Let me know what you think

Playing with the ISCV tables will probably help, but I don't know how too. I need someone to help guide me on what to change, there are like 10 tables, and I don't' want to mess with the wrong things blindly.
I'll take a screenshot of my tables tonight, and upload them. My laptop is at my house right now. I am pretty sure they are the basic TephraMod v7 data, which should mimic stock, but maybe I changed some of them by accident.
really? Even scaled coolant temp is off by that much?
sorry for the thread-jack, but myself and a few others I know of are having this same issue. I'm going to check the ISCV settings you suggested and see what the deal is.
The weird thing with this issue is that its not 100% repeatable, even when temps are the same... atleast in my case. Sometimes it will idle high and others it will start and idle fine.

Just that one table, what about all of the other CTS ISCV tables?
I guess there is only one subtractor table. The values range from 14.9 @ -26 degrees, up to 1.6 @ 180 degrees. I will try to feather them out, and see if it has any affect on my overall idle.

I'm having this issue as well (one of the people AlwaysinBoost is talking about). I was just tuned on V7 this past weekend, and have had this cold-start high idle ever since. Car is fine once it warms up, but if its cold, it wants to idle at 2200rpm.

for my car i just used the Desired ISCV intial step position and then lowered the steps in the cold areas and it fixed it..
but honestly its not even a fix.. mitsubishi did this on purpose to their roms so it would heat up the cat for emission crap. evos been doing this since 2003. but i believe they are only supposed to do it to around 1500-1700rpm tho, not 2000rpm+.
and its horrible on a built engine to idle that high cold the oil pressure skyrockets and stresses all seals and bearings.
its been awhile but i had warm start issues also and i used the Idle Stepper Look up Table.. so maybe thats some assistance also with the cold start rpm control.
