Speed density tuning question

I decided to make the switch to speed density but my question is, is it really a necessity to leave the maf installed for the initial tunning process? The reason I ask is because if I don't need it from at all for the initial tunning I can just buy the spoolinup plug and play harness to save some time instead of running wires to the cabin. thanks

Its not needed to tune SD no the maf will be completely ignored.

It is prudent to use the maf and a wideband to get a feeling how the VE for your car should be setup before attempting SD though.

I agree with roadspike, I wish I would of had maf logs when I first started with SD. I ended up loosing all of my maf logs for comparison for SD. take plenty of logs and take your time when tuning it. Get your fuel trims in order and then start tuning for power on low boost to keep it safe.
