i would say turn the boost down to 22 psi, then see what kind of timing you can get. 1* at peak torque and 5* at redline is still super low timing

Do remember this is on a evo 9, From what i knwo 9's dont take too much timing anyways. What timing should i be shooting for 22-25psi tapering to 22.

i would say 8-9* by redline, and 3-4* at peak torque with that much boost

Ok sounds good, I will aim for that next time. Also would it be safer to make power by having:

less boost lets say 22 psi taper to 20psi and more timing

or

full boost like 25psi taper to 22psi and less timing?

All responses are appreciated, Thank you

The simple answer is..which ever way makes the most power. You just have to try it different ways and see how it responds. VD and a flat road is your friend.

If you look for boost, just raise a bit your timing on top and most of all, go richer!!!

This^ I'm not saying lowering the boost and increasing the timing will make more power than what you are making now at 25 psi, but that is the route I would go

Going richer than 11.0 AFR is dumb, and will not allow you to run more boost and timing

It will but you wont make any power this way.
My point is that you have to go down from 12 to 11.
I wont play >11 on AFR without EGT.
Just my opinion...

i wouldnt go above 11 even with EGT as im not tuning race cars, and dont need every last bit of hp.

if my customer thinks they can get more power by turning up the AFR's to 12's, then they can go somewhere else, because im not going to be the person who blows their engine.

SO did some more logging and tuning this weekend... Car feels better but above 6k rps still refuses to take more then 6* of timing.. so My peak timing at 7500 RPM is 6 Degrees. and i still get 1-2 counts of knocks here and there.

Is running 6* ok or does something seem wrong with my engine?

i still think you should turn the boost down. running low timing with high boost can do damage.

I agree. Less boost more timing. Try it

Actually, from seeing various logs, 9's take more timing.

1 count of knock shouldnt kill your motor, I think you're putting to much thought into that aspect. It may not even be real knock.

Post a snap shot of your timing and fuel maps.
