thats a very nicely made video. the reason its not showing up in vbulletin on here is because the custom BB code is set to scan for youtube.com not youtu.be

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwXriq5Cl7s

those shifts looked effortless and very quick. i might have to try nlts lol.

Thanks guys! The video was made with Windows Live Movie Maker...it was my first time playing with the software...took about 20 mins...easy.

The confusing part when posting was actual video doesn't show in "preview post", even when you got the code right.

Its a strange feeling keeping the right foot planted during a sprint thru the gears!!!

I have used nlts a few times at the track. While it made my 1-2 shift perfect, and helped my other shifts. I am just afraid to use it so much on the stock trans lol. Just seems to be brutal on it .

Actually, I think its better for the trans as there is less movement between it and the engine. What I noticed however, is my rear diff makes a large DUNK sound while shifting. Beatrush bushing here I come!

Did you swap the Neutral Safety and the start switch around?

OT, what steering wheel is that and do you have the warning light for airbag? I'm looking to do a new setup, but don't want the warning light when the airbag is removed. I love NLTS when the clutch is cooperating, I have my RPM drop at 300

Momo 330mm race wheel.
I got the warning light and even tried the resistor trick but it didn't work...I just removed the bulb.

What would be a good rpm drop for stock 6spd? I wanna try this out, but a bit hesitant if the drop isn't correct...

I have always kept it at the 800rpm original value. The idea is to shift as fast as humanly possible while keeping boost up with this mod. Shifting slow enough to hit your RPM drop really isn't going to make much use of this feature lol.

I agree^^^

You can do what I did: Log the car thru every gear and see what your shift points are and next gear rpm. That will give you a good idea how quick you shift and how far rpm is dropping.

Or you can start with 2k and continue lowering the value until you miss a gear.
The 1k-800 rpm range is what most are running, I'd guess anything higher than 800 is just an extra safety margin for slower shifters.

R/TErnie made a post over 2 years ago which gives a good visual on the shift time vs. engine speed theory. The bottom line seems to be the rpm drop doesn't really matter unless you shift real slow.

Here is the visual aid R/TErnie posted on it:

Broke my drivetrain trying this out last night . To be fair its not the NTLS, but the clutch drag / me.

But in general it seems better to have the RPM drop less than how much you actually drop between shifts because theres a split second before reactivation that feels like a dead zone.
