Running duel maps
I’ve had meth on my car for over 4 years now and 60k+ miles and don’t trust the system as much anymore (everything still works though) and the car does have 100k on it. My problem is that I don’t want to lose my meth tune but would like to switch to a non-meth safe map when I want to. My questions are as follows:
- Would using a laptop and tactrix cable be the best option to switch maps? If so what program do I need on the laptop to do this? I am not that computer savvy but can do the basics if needed. I have also been out of the evo community for a while now and not sure what people are using anymore.
- If I switch the maps, will I end up losing the map that has been programmed to my ECU by the last tuner with the meth? Is there any way to save this before I switch it?
- Is there a place to get free base maps for just bolt ons? I really don’t have the funds to spend $400.00 on a base tune at my local shop. Mods are in my sig.
Thanks guys.

Yes you can save the current map that's on the car. The ideal solution for your situation would be to use Tephra v7's alt-maps to have both a "no-meth" map and a "meth" map and be able to switch between them without having to reflash the ECU every time you want to switch.

Thanks Raptord. Can you give me a few good links to point me in the right direction with what you said above? I can rip an engine apart and put it back together but when it comes to the ECU I a newb lol.

That should get you started. If you're like I was when I was starting out you probably still won't be too sure what to do after reading that; if that's the case feel free to send me a pm and I'll try to guide you along.
