Worth tuning yet?

Hey guys I've been trying to do all the research I can to learn how to tune my car and was wondering if it is worth doing just yet with what I have or if I should just wait. I am up in Alaska right now and the best fuel we have is **** 90 octance gas at the highest.

My power making mods are:

HKS suction intake
HKS DP
HKS TP
HKS Cat Back
AMS LICP

I know it would be beneficial to get a boost controller, wideband and fuel pump. Should I wait to get the additional parts to tune it and about how much power could I expect to get after tuning. Thanks for the advice in advance.

If your still on the stock tune its almost always worth tuning. I'd get an upgraded fuel pump before you do though. And you are pretty much going to need a wideband as well to tune it.

My car is similarly modded (buschur intake/exhaust) and made around 300whp on virtual dyno after it was mail in tuned. Getting mine retuned now though via e-mail since I want to get the most out of it with my current mods (and get the mivec table tuned since they did not touch it in my case).

Thats kind of what I was thinking. Im pretty excited to get in there and get to tuning. I think I will def wait to get the fuel pump and wideband and stuff. I was kinda thinking of holding on the Boost controller for a while since it seems like you can adjust boost through the ecu.

IMO, I would re-tune anytime you change how much fuel or air gets in your engine. Are you just learning how to tune your own car? If so, I would do it with the least amount of mods on the car, that way if anything in your maps is way off, you will be able to pin point it. Plus it will give you much needed practice for other upgrades.

I would at least get a fuel pump.... However I can say that I tuned mine w/ a catback exhaust and boost controller just to see what it would make from baseline (but I have a dyno and the tuning software, so I really don't count)

I was kinda thinking along the same lines, since I dont have much done to my car I would be starting off slow which is definately what I want. Yes I will just be doing my own car for now. I would definately wanna be a lot more confident in this sorta thing before I even thought about doing someone elses car. I think I may wait until I get the fuel pump and wideband, but I will go ahead and start looking around ecuflash and whatnot and getting comfortable with the software.

I'd just get started now since you are doing it yourself. The first thing to check is to see if that intake has thrown off the MAF readings any....I don't remember offhand if that one does/doesn't. Dial that in and then just check for knock and adjust. Get the wideband next to ensure AFRs are in check and then go from there.

I still need to get evoscan before I do anything. From all the research and stuff it seems like a lot to take in and understand. Im hoping as I read on it seems to get more simple.

If youre only running 90 octane fuel on the stock rom then id say you definitely need a retune.

I would get a silicone intake tube and ditch the hks one, then get it tuned. Fuel pump and wideband would def. help.

I've been studying as well. Started with Merlin's ECUflash. Want to learn to tune my own car. I have the benefit of having the best tuner in NC, Matt from SpecOps, as a neighbor.
