ODB-II Codes map for what is used?

I have a quick question.

For what is used ODB-II Codes map in Evo X ROMs?

Can I disable a code which is in the table by changing this map somehow?

I did a little messing around with this the other day...

CEL on, code Pxxxx...I found the code in the table, changed that cell to 0000, flash to the ECU.

CEL still on, but the reader comes back with "0 codes".

So apparently, changing the code in the table changes what the ECU looks up when it detects a fault. It won't turn off the CEL and it won't disable whatever fault is turning on the CEL, but it'll get rid of the actual code number being thrown. I believe Tephra also mentioned that you can change the code to something else (for example change 1241 in the table to 1235) and the new code will be displayed.

That information could help me I have camshaft error which fail safe function is to disable the whole MIVEC system. I'm wondering if I change the value in table to 0000 as you did, will that bring back MIVEC operational....

I doubt it... seems more like it is for reporting. You are welcome to try though!

Good information above... thanks!

Like I said, it looks to me like it only disables the actual code number reported, it doesn't actually disable any fault that's throwing the code in the first place.

It should go without saying that if something is causing your MIVEC solenoids to disable themselves, I would want to fix what's wrong instead of working around it....just sayin...

Well there is nothing wrong with the car, the CEL is on cause I flashed EvoX ROM to turbo Lancer.

Just tried setting it to 0000. Error is not reported, but MIVEC is still not working, so obviously this map is only for reporting purposes.
