Since I don't want to eliminate the knock control below 100 load I need to raise my knock base correct? This is due to the increase in engine noise in having a built motor/balance shaft delete that is increasing the noise or knock adc.

Since the knock adc is raising over the knock base this is generating a knock sum. However since my car is no longer stock this knock sum is not actually knock just noise. I just want to make sure i'm thinking about this in the right way.

Also, the only det cans I could fine online were by Phormula and I won't have those until the middle of next month because they're based in the UK. I found a review of them on this forum and think electronic det cans would be the way to go since this isn't idle knock. Also no one I know that's close to me tunes their own cars or owns det cans.

Should I update my knock threshold table or knock multiplier? I'm leaning towards the multiplier since there will be an increased resonance with my built motor. Is raising it 10% a good way to start? I'm sure others have had this issue. Just want to get to tuning my motor and enjoying my evo again. I really appreciate the help.

You can make your own det cans. I think I even saw something at harbor freight that may work.

Also, try putting 100 octane and see if it reduces knock.

I'm still leaning towards phantom knock.

Use a set of ear protectors and a piece copper pipe flattened with a hole in it to bolt on centre inlet manifold stud run some tube from the copper . drill a hole in the ear protector cover use a plastic pipe bulkhead fitting
to fasten it to the cover, put the pipe on the fitting, job done

My mechanic and I both listened and he verified the car is not predetonating. What is the best way to rase the knock base to filter the noise?

I changed that and it fixed my issue. however my octane number is still on the decline. It's around 67%. My car isn't showing any knock when I log however it won't raise the octane number. Is this normal?

Doesn't matter if his maps are the same or not.

The octane flag will only go back up when you're under boost and there's no knock (or very little, under 3 I think).

So since i'm staying out of the boost since I only have 300 miles on the build it won't raise the octane number? That does make sense that it keeps going down and won't raise because I haven't seen over 4 psi since i've had the car running.

I was under the impression that when you re flashed a 9 ecu as he did when he changed th eknock load settings that everything resets

Is there any way to reset the octane level? I'd like to make sure my car is going off of the high octane maps again.

This may be a dumb question. But could I be running not enough timing? All the maps I've found with S2s they're running more timing in the cruise/partial throttle areas

I don't think reflashing resets the octane flag.

Possible. Would have to see the map to tell if that's a possibility.
