Mind giving a me a brief overview of the install process (did you have to do it from a USB stick, update straight form the site, etc).

I take it upgrading to windows 10 didn't make things better in terms of touch sensitivity. I'll live with it a bit and see if losing an OS more suited for Car Infotainment is worth the price of admission. I ordered one off ebay and the OTG cable recommended. I'm in Atlanta right now but I/m fairly certain I still have my 1.3U cable (Just got my car back the day I was leaving for Atlanta after waiting over a year).

Thanks for all your help btw.
go to this web page using the browser on the tablet: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

download the 32bit version of the tool.
run the tool
Select the Upgrade this PC now option
Click next.
follow the wizard.

The update takes about an hour
it leaves a lot of backup data from the upgrade in the event you wish to roll back so the built in drive gets rather full.
Once functionality was verified, I ran the disk cleanup wizard to recover the disk space used by the backup.

It was a pretty painless process.

Keeps saying it can't see the tactrix cable or giving me a code 10. I had this issue before but I just assumed it was the previous windows tablet I used. Now I suspect that its the cable itself.

I'd hate to buy one just to see if its the cable I don't see any other logical explanation.

This sounds like a Driver challenge, you did install ecuflash first to get the tactrix drivers installed?

Yeah I had this problem with a asus tab I had and thought it was the tab. Its also doing this with a friends PC. I'm in IT and my engineers use a lot of weird equipment so I know how to mess with drivers and try to get them to install a few different ways.

Its diff the cable. I bought another cable off a forum member here. Once that comes in all should be well. I'll try upgrading to win10 now.

I tried the day I got the stream (Thursday and it kept barking and saying my license key was incorrect. Googled it and it appears it could've been a server overload thing. I'll try it again though. Thanks.

I went into a Windows store today to try and buy one of these, and the sales associate told me that they had pulled them off the shelves last week. They are still available on the microsoftstore.com w/ a $25 gift certificate for $79 plus shipping. HP's online store shows them as out of stock. They had plenty of the 8" but at close to double the price.

I went ahead and ordered one, its so cheap I'm almost worried that its too good to be true. I'm still trying to decide between hacking together an OTG cable with custom power solution, or just picking something up off amazon. I'll be re-tuning my car soon so ill update when i get a chance to play with it.

If you could try and get Scantech to work on the HP Stream 7 that would be awesome!

I'll install it now.

I'll have my replacement tactrix cable tomorrow so I'll let you know if it works.

scantech

sounds good, I tried it on mine and it kept saying not connected no matter which com port I used and whether I used the Jeff protocol or the tactrix cable option. I've never been able to get it to work on windows 7 either. The only versions I could ever get them to work on was xp and vista.

Its been a while but I swore I got it to work with Win7. I could be wrong. I didnt make the time to check scantech tonight (I was busy trying to see if a new rom would fix my AC issue which it did). I'll check it tomorrow for you. Just wanted you to know I hadn't forgotten.

apparently dell makes an OTG cable that will enable high speed charging while in host mode. Here is a link to an article where it is confirmed that this works. http://targusblog.com/2014/11/25/how...a-workstation/

The otg device costs $20 and i just ordered one. I took a stab at making one but its apparently more complicated then just splicing into the power and ground. With your off the shelf otg cable the sense pin is just straight grounded, but for the device to detect the cable for high speed charging it needs to see a series of different resistances for different modes of operation. The dell adapter takes care of all this, or at least that's the claim. I'll update when it arrives.

Yep, see post# 11 in this thread - I've confirmed that it does work, but just with a trickle. Also the tablet doesn't recognize that it is charging (the battery icon doesn't change to indicate it is plugged in).

Oh yah i dont know how i missed that. Well that sucks, I was hoping for full speed charging. I was also hoping it would report its charging for some bat scripts i was going to write.
