Unhappy Help identifying Evo 9 AUDM ROM

Hey guys,

What a wealth of information there is on here! I am having an issue with a AUDM Evo 9 in identifying the ROM file.

It has been previously tuned and I am wondering if something has been done to stop people being able to identify the ROM when read.

If anyone has any tips / tricks to share or can assist me in identifying this ROM it would be greatly appreciated. I am always very keen to learn from more experienced people with a platform!

I cannot directly attach the ROM file unless I compress it into a zip. ECUFLASH does not provide any information at all (not even an internal ID).

Attached Files
File Type: zip
read_image.zip (129.7 KB, 0 views)

Hello. Apologize for DRAGHICI - seems like he replied to the wrong thread.

Yeah it's certainly possible to fiddle with some bits in the ROM so that ECUFlash has a difficult time identifying it. I don't know how much detail you are interested in, but each ROM has a ID in it, and ECUFlash is looking for that ID in order to match up which XML metadata file to load. If someone flipped some numbers in that ROM ID, then ECUFlash will never be able to find your ROM in its library.

I think that's what has happened to your ROM.

Try this:
  1. Make sure ECUFlash is closed.
  2. Open Notepad or your favorite text editor as an Administrator (these files aren't allowed to be written to by regular users so must be run as admin)
  3. Within Notepad, Open the file C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo\88580013 2006 ADM Lancer Evolution MT.xml
  4. Find this line at the top of the file, around line 5: <internalidhex>88580013</internalidhex>
  5. Change that line to this: <internalidhex>88589929</internalidhex>
  6. Save the file.
  7. Open ECUFlash and try to open your ROM again.
This assumes the ROM was originally 88580013.
You should see your ROM open with the tables defined as if it was 88580013.

If you want to know how that worked I can explain, but you should be able to edit your ROM again.
