Unable to connect to vehicle interface?

Still can't connect. Am I missing something terribly simple here? I have both plugs connected and my drivers installed, but it can never connect to download the current ROM.

Seems like you not missing anything. What port does it show on the laptop under options. Don't use the port com3. try this way and see if it works.

Yes, it was something simple. I had played with the software and set the port to Com1 BEFORE the OpenPort driver was installed, so I didn't know to go back and select that port. It works perfectly now.

Cool stuff. I was able to download my ROM and take a look at it. I did a simple change to the stationary rev limit (3000rpm), and it worked, then I changed it back and loaded the original map and tested it again. Worked great and was very fast.

I now have created a valet map with a low rev limit and low stationary rev limit - so now I can let my wife drive it, haha.

So you can create other maps from the map pulled from the ECU or adjust it as needed? I have the software, now I just need to get that cable. This is sweet.

Yes, you can do that, but I also downloaded the stock 05 map and adjusted that one in order to make my valet map, since my tuned map is pretty crazy in terms of AFR/timing changes.

did you flash the down loaded stock 05 map to your car and if so did you have issues with the immobilizer?

I'm sure he put his code in from his tuned map..

The only thing I'm not sure of is if you can flash a different rom version from what you have in your ECU.. My gut says yes, but I haven't had the courage to try it.

The 05 ECU has an advantage that there's only one known Rom version..

Andenbre, I haven't messed with it yet specifically because of the immobilizer issue. I have read MalibuJack's warning about writing down the code and such, so I'm going to do that before I mess with any map other than the one that came out of my ECU originally.

Can someone explain to me exactly where is the Immobilizer code stored? Is if found in the Rom info? What does the code look like? Is it the Internal ID. I like to know as I would like to use ECUFlash as well. Thanks
