Hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me.
I have the serial to port cable that goes to the blue wire on the uego and the other that goes to the ground.
That then plugs into the serial to usb wich in turn goes into the laptop.
Ok so here is the situation, I plug the usb in and it says windows doesent recognize the device, so i go ahead and put in the driver software and install it.
*When I go to the device manager it comes up as unknown device and I have no means of selecting the port.
*In Mitsulogger if i select AEM for wideband it opens a small window and asks me to select a port, and this port is used for the tactrix cable so it gives me an error when i try to log.
Ive tried to change the port for the tactrix cable and I can no problem but the wideband port selection then becomes whatever port i selected for the tactrix cable...
if i try to log w/out the wideband selection i have no problems but i need them to both work and its giving me trouble.

+1. Also not sure if the WB is new or not, but once the USB device is recognized you should turn on the car, and use Hyper terminal to check that that the WB is actually sending data. If you can't see it with Hyper terminal (following the instructions that came with it) then it won't work with EvoScan either.

I also deleted the driver software, re-installed it.
Oh and, on mitsulogger when you select the wideband and a window pops up and start logging, is there supposed to be an X displayed?

Alright I'm troubleshooting so here is question #1
- In device manager, when i plug in the usb to serial port cable is it supposed to show up as Unknown Device? also initially i have a little baloon that pops up saying USB Device not recognized when i plug it in. is this normal?
-If so, i cant choose the port as it doesen't give me an option
-If not, so far ive narrowed it down to a driver problem

I had the same problem with my AEM WB. It turned out to be a driver issue for the USB to serial cable. If you can get the WB to log using hyper terminal then it most likely is a driver issue for the cable.

Mitsulogger should pop up 2 windows, the window behind you have to change the port configuration, as long as you use the same usb port and device the logger will keep it the same.
It should not show up as "Unknown device." What USB to serial converter are you using? You can probably download updated drivers for it online.
Just as a data point, I am using the Prolific Serial-to-USB and have gotten it to work on both XP and Vista machines.

Will be trying different drivers now
The serial to usb is the one that comes inside the AEM UEGO box

Ok troubleshooting question # 2
In order for the the computer to detect the device, does the car need to be powered on and getting a signal from the wideband or shouuld it detect the prolific serial to usb with just that plugged in alone?
edit to add:
When you datalog with the wideband option enabled on mitsulogger, does the data go to the same excel sheet thats generated after logging or is there a seperate file that is created for the AFR log?

Theres another one that has a USB connection, some box in between and then the serial connection. That one comes in the AEM UEGO box I beleive.
I got it shipped over by a friend
