This might be a silly question, but...

Is the ignition event timed directly from the cam angle sensor? I was under the impression that it used the crank trigger, and only the crank trigger.

yea i think its crank because my last engine had no cas and the one i have now has a cas (both 4g63)

Thanks Acamus. That is exactly what I was looking for. I'm surprised I didn't find it, considering I posted in that thread. :-p

I'm trying to figure out why I have to run _much_ less timing on E85 than everybody else seems to. However I am running the and exhaust cam gear at -3 degrees, so my numbers are probably 6 degrees off crank TDC...

Both. One is the main reference and the other is a tied reference for injection phasing and ignition trims.
