Simply put this customer wanted more power from his car, power beyond the oridinary and power beyond what a typical pump gas tuning session would possibly yeild
I have learned in my time tuning cars that the most important thing you can do is listen to the customer and give them what they want. In this case the customer was 100% correct as there was a lot of safe power left on the table and the car did have the potential to make significantly more power.
Of course it goes without saying that runnin g the car closer to the exact safe limit of pump gas operation entails a greater risk for problems which may result if the customer picks up a tank of bad gas. However, in this case the customer did not want a nice lazy tune - he wanted a very powerful and agressive tune to maximize his set up and that is exactly what I gave him.
The customer is always right.
I am excited to see him break into the 11's when he goes to the track.

I wish I could join you there but as fate would have it I am stuck here at work for the next week at least with a back log of cars to tune. Right now I am stuffed inside a 930 Porsche turbo with two Gt35's and a roll cage - not exactly a large space for a big guy to be inside. LOL. Again best of luck.
