FS635 "Cold" Weather Pull on the VDR

Zeus1's idea was excellent to make a "cold" weather pull and put the log data on the VDR, so i did the same!

Car is a 06 EVO IX on a built 2.0 block but with stock unported head, stock intake manifold, stock throttle body, BR FS635 turbo kit, BR Race fmic, BR dual Pumper, 1200cc injectors, AEM EMS, on pump and max boost was 28.9 psi...

However, my IAT compensation must be off a little bit because the car with 40 degrees intake temps was running pig rich...

Also i have a built tranny with 3rd and 4th from the EVO VIII thus the selection on the VDR... The base pull is the default when i downloaded the file...

Also the weight is pretty accurate since i ve weighted the car many times on the Etown's scale...

The pull was a 3rd gear from 3000rpm to 7500rpm...

boost curve and afrs...

max timing was 9 degrees... The log was made on 3rd gear, just me in the car, on pump gas 93 octane from Gulf. The afrs from the graph were in the flat 10s to low 10s and only up top it touched 11.0... On a 70-73 degree day the car runs 11-11.3...

Mind you that at 30psi on a 70 degree day (11.3 afrs) the car trapped 132mph on the same weight, gasoline and with a bad 3rd gear synchro so a very slow shift and full lift shifting since i have to drive back home from the track... LOL...

This is a pretty cool tool what i will be using a lot more, after the snow melts a little bit!

For the history at 26psi the car is dynoed 460awhp / 320ft-lbs at the Shop's Dyno Dynamics, so probably at 30psi on a 70 degree day i must be closer to 500awhp... Maybe 600awhp on the VDR? we 'll find out next year!!!

Ha ha ha. The new trend "Cold" weather VDR threads.

Power is looking great

EDIT- Also try out the Mustang (average), GST mustang or Buschur mustang setting to get numbers closer to a Dyno Dynamics dyno.

Thanks man! I have to say that you had an excellent idea and it seems that I can easily use VDR even with my AEM since it's very easy to export my logs on a spreadsheet.

Although that the car is running pig rich in such cold weather when the boost hits it's rediculus! In second gear I can do rolling burnouts! LOL.

When the snow melts a little bit and it's more safe I will do a couple of more logs in order to adjust my fueling and see the difference.

Well I don't really know how this max rpm trim works that why I left it unchanged. My pull what up to 7500rpm and from other threads they say to adjust the max rpm 200-300 rpm before the end of the pull and that's what I did. I used 7200. At 7300 it shows 585 whp and 451 wtq....

I will try and have some more logs on Saturday if the road is dry enough...

To use max RPM trim. You load the log, then put the max RPM trim at the highest setting (number). Then you go though the numbers (setting) and use the one that makes the graph look proper and natural. Usually there be a couple setting where its correct and a couple where the HP shoots up in an unnatural way. The max RPM trim is to get rid of those unnatural up shoots.

Thank you for the instructions!

I hink in order to really check a proper log I have to log all the way to the rev limiter, since on the dyno even at 9000rpm my whp curve, is not a curve but a straight line. See below. It's a dyno sheet at around 26-27 psi. The 460whp line is on 1.0cf and the 560whp is on 1.2cf. What I actually notice is that the car spools faster on the road bt that's also after almost 2000 miles. The dyno sheet is at around 50 miles on the built motor...

Looks good.

I'm going to shoot you a pm. I couldn't get my log to load correct on the vdr without changing the smoothing factor real high.

Wow, Nice Pull! That is serious HP for the limited parts. You need to go back on the Dyno to see if the spool up has improved that much!
