Lightbulb High Boost & Stock Turbo - Boost Curves Please

From what I can tell we have many of the following threads started already.

Stock turbo HP / TQ
Stock turbo E85 graphs
Stock turbo x y z here

But what is hit or miss between all of these threads is a boost curve to go along with the numbers.

So lets consolidate them into one thread here. Please post the following information only.

1. Stock Turbo ID (8 or 9) - (No FP color turbo allowed)
2. Stock block ID - (Yes or No) (If No ID built 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3)
3. Fuel Type (E85 or 93 or whatever)
4. Dyno Numbers (WHP & TQ) No Curve required
5. MOST IMPORTANT (Max Boost , Boost at Redline) Boost Graph preferred
6. SECOND MOST IMPORTANT - type of boost control being used
7. Type of 02 Housing

PURPOSE - I am curious to see who is having the most success holding boost. The ECU Controlled boost guys, the MBC controlled boost guys, the EBC controlled boost guys, the guys with external dumps, the guys with recirc O2 housings, the guys with 18 or 25 psi wga, or the guys with all of the above etc... You get the point.

Hopefully this thread turns into something worthwhile.

1. Stock Turbo IX Ported
2. Stock block 4G63
3. Fuel: 91+100% Meth
4. 417hp/452tq
5. Spike 35psi holding 23psi at 7.5k (boost curve attached below).
6. Turbosmart MBC
7. Ported Megan

I think It would have held more out the top if I had my external dump on it and if I had an EBC. I recommend the AEM Tru Boost. That dyno had the 18psi wastegate. I had a 25psi wastegate but never tried it because the stock turbo blew up at 35psi. That's when I got the Red.

That is some unreal TQ on a stock 9 turbo.

Perfect example of a post to by the way. Hope we can fill a few pages with the same type of post. Then I will pivot table the data to see if we can come up with some sort of trend to analyze.

1. 2005 Evo 8 stock turbo
2. Stock block/head/IM/exhaust manifold
3. E85
4. 400/400 (conservative tune by me - 0-16*)
5. Max boost - 32psi Boost at redline - 22psi (23 cutout closed)
6. Profec Type S EBC
7. Stock O2 housing

As an fyi, what you trying to find out isn't going to amount to much. Anyone maxing out the stock turbo is going to be in the same ballpark on max boost at redline, just varying by a few psi depending on the mass airflow that the particular setup can flow.

For example, higher VE setups will max out the compressor at a lower boost level than a lower VE setup...ie larger cams can flow the same mass airflow at a lower boost pressure than stock cams. It has nothing to do with being able to hold boost when the compressor is already maxed. Intake temperatures will also come into play.

What you are trying to figure out would work on a bigger turbo that isn't being maxed out. Then the various parts come into play.

AEM BCS, Ported Megan O2

and to support Eric-

Buschur Racing MBC, QTP

Both cars very similar mods but the obvious differences are 2.0 vs a 2.4, both are SD, both are 10:1 compression+, Luke has a Magnus and Jake has an extremely ported stocker. Both ran IX turbos with Lukes being aggressively ported both compressor and hotside and Jake only being light porting on the hotside.

Wow, Mikey, you got considerably higher torque numbers with the stock IX turbo than you did with the Red turbo. Neat!

Ya but I was also running 35psi through a turbo that was made for low to mid 20s... If I ran 35psi through the Red I think I would be about 470tq.

I didn't remember the 4th gear pull numbers, I just knew it didn't make more power...
