Tunes finished.. two maps to enjoy!

Hey all, I finally finished building my car and met my performance goals. There are two maps for the car: One is 93 and the other is 93+meth. The car has the following mods:

TTR 2.3L Stroker
FP Red 80mm
65MM TB
Magnus Intake Manifold
1000cc injectors
Invidia 02 housing
Greddy Ti-C exhaust
AEM EMS
Aquamist HFS-5
Tial BOV
ETS 3.5" intercooler
Custom intake and intercooler piping
Comp 272 cams

(I don't think I missed anything but I do tend to forget sometimes)

I am a little concerned on the AFR on both of the tunes... opinions?

Josh

Looks way too rich for meth imo. Nice power on your maps either way.

Looks good to me, You could prob go a little leaner on the Meth tune as long as there is no Knock. How much boost were these at? Good Numbers

spool looks so laggy, but the overall numbers are not bad. you didnt say how much boost it took for each sheet? thats rather important to know.

It's not that laggy it is how the graph is displayed inadvertently, look again at what I am talking about and you will see.

its a little laggy. my e85 spool vs your 93 and meth has 460tq~ at 4000 vs yours at 310tq~ and with a bigger turbo also. the spool could be much faster, but if you are happy the way the car pulls then that is all that matters.

Sorry all... 93 tune is 21psi and the 93+meth is 29-31 spike

I don't really know how these things work which is the reason why I am posting. The shop tells me this and that but after reading posts on the forum it makes me think.. The thing that scares me is that oil temps reach 212F while normally driving at 80MPH without boosting.. This just seems excessively hot for casual driving and I am wondering if I should be concerned... I am also using 20w50 Royal Purple oil in the car for the summertime.

The numbers don't matter as much as the safety of my engine and internals and I just don't want it to pop.

Thanks for the input!
Josh

How are you checkign oil temps accurately? - Turbo trix has been in the car business for many years, and I think you are in good hands with their tune.

I agree your car looks really laggy to be a 2.3... I spool my red sooner than you on my stock 2.0.

Also I don't think 40hp gain from 93 to 93+meth sounds right either. You went from 21-30psi... I also make 535 on stock motor w/30psi so not sure what is up with your car...

If you are happy then that is what matters. I guess what I am trying to say is that there is still some left IMHO.

Josh, If you have a wideband and a tactrix cable I could fix your spool for you. Can you post us a log of 3rd gear starting at 2500rpm to about 5k so i can see the AFR?

Mike,
I would like my car to run as efficiently as possible. I don't want to cause any unnecessary stress on the components of the vehicle that may cause premature failure which is why the numbers aren't that big of a deal.. I do want to get my monies worth out of the car and though it does drive nicely I still thought the power was low being conservative and the oil temps bother me. I have a Defi oil temp gauge in my oil filter housing that reads the temps. Before the car was retuned I saw temps of 80-90C on the 93 map. (The meth map did not exist at that time.)

Is it possible to log AFRs from the wideband with the AEM? The wideband gauge I have isn't working properly (bad RCA cable) and still needs to be replaced. I could connect my laptop to the car via usb to serial to connect to the EMS but I would have to figure out what I am doing to gather the data..

I still think the car has more power that can be obtained without beating the turbo to hell.. Thoughts?

I would like to thank you all for helping me out on this by the way; I really appreciate it.

Josh

If your wideband isnt functioning properly then it wont be logged on aem. AEM needs a working wideband o2 sensor. do you have any logs from aem? the wideband a/f should show in the logs if its logging it. not the actual cal file but just the AEMLOG file only

Well, there are two sensors in the car at this time. The front o2 (I believe) is used for the AEM to manage the fuel system. The o2 after the cat is the aftermarket Innovate wideband that has a defective gauge. I assume that I can read the data from the AEM and will check it out either tomorrow or Tuesday. I will post again then, thanks a lot!

No that bad really. I bet your running more like 25lbs of boost on pump though. That would explain the large boost change and only making 40whp.

How are you guys liking the SparkTech ignition btw? I was considering upgrading the ignition in my car but wasn't sure what to go with.

Also, have any of you upgraded your oil cooler? That was another thing I was considering upgrading.
