Evo9 Stock Turbo + Boltons? (TBD)

Been on here for a couple months while i looked for an evo 9. I finally found one in Orlando that looked like it had minor mods, so i went ahead and bought it just before New Years. I will admit that this is my first boosted car, so out of the gate this car felt ridiculously fast to me. The dealership I bought it from had it tuned at TTP but they supposedly didnt know what is was putting down, so my mod list below is probably inaccurate until I find time to look into what all is done to the car.

Mods-
Injen LICP, UICP, Intake
Megan Racing Catback - Maybe Turboback but TBD
Forge Boost Controller
TTP Tune on 93 im assuming

Below is what I base lined after I got it up to Ohio. It is a Dynapack and no I dont know how high or low it reads, but as you can see its tuned for 27lbs. Also any advice on whether I should turn the boost down would be appreciated. A sniffer wideband was used and my afr's across the board were close to and right on 12 by 7k rpm. The graph below is of the first pull, the second pull showed signs of pre-detonation or detonation i cant remember, but it was obvious the ecu was pulling timing

Boost seems a little high for a car with so few mods...esp. no cams...prob the reason for detonation...

wowzers thats way too agressive. 12.0 is like e85 afr, and 27psi basically stock on pump is sketchy imo.

Good point I missed the 12 afr's that is way lean for pump...should be closer to 10.9-11 at redline.

ya i thought my afr's were high i forgot to add i have a walbro with what looks like stock injectors. I think the florida tune with the warm weather and all is prob whats causing the high afr since it was an almost 40 degree temp drop

With stock injectors and current temps in Ohio, i would turn the boost down to 22-23psi and take it to Buschur asap.

Good luck with your new ride-- get it into someone's hands that know what they are doing so that you can enjoy your first year of having it!!

idles fine, thanks e spec thats what i was looking for, i should have a boost gauge fairly soon so i can properly turn the boost down. Wont be able to get it to buschur until march, but the evo isnt my daily right now so it should be ok, the last thing i want is to blow the motor

kk just trying to see if it possibly was a e85 tune lol... you should get a cable+evo scan/ ecu flash and find a tuner you can get a safer basemap from for the meantime imo.

I feel 12.0 afr would be safe as long as the timing is done correctly, however the boost does seem to be pushing it into a more dangerous territory.

I have similar mods but PTE 1000cc injectors and I'm running 27psi with no issues. I have 0 knock but my afr's are at 11.4. You just need to get some bigger injectors, maybe 880's or bigger if you plan on doing more mods aka bigger turbo.

That dyno curve looks awesome. How is it "obvious" the car is pulling timing. I remember when the Evo came to the USA in 2003 and it became hip to say "pulling timing". There is no indication whatsoever of any detonation or timing retard by the looks of that dynosheet. It is perfectly natural for horsepower to taper off smoothly like that as the stock turbo runs out of air and boost drops off. Again, that dyno chart looks great and tailpipe sniffers are NEVER accurate as the surrounding air around the tailpipe dilutes the signal. This is why you should get the reading from the downpipe or testpipe so you can have an accurate reading. Best of luck
