Gaining 56whp and 13wtq, not bad Very nice comparison i have wanted to see a Black vs a 3582 for a long time. although from graph it shows you were running 2-3psi more on the 3582.
Interesting results and a cool comparison. Thanks for the input to the community

nice compare....BB for reliability!!
4500 looks like you gave up ~100whp to gain ~60whp @ 8500
what is the significance of run 4 within the compare?
I bet the larger turbo will allow you to easier predict / squeeze / apply the power during mid corner / corner exit!!
-That sums it up pretty much my powerband is really 5k-9k so anything below that I was not really concerned with.
-Run 004 was the second to last run while we were turning up the boost.
-ABSOLUTELY with this BB turbo setup much easier to smoothly apply power through the corners, one of my main reasons for buying it + reliability.

I <3 my HTA82 with the PTE .63 A/R. Lag is way overrated especially with these frame size billet wheeled turbos. Good results

Could not agree more the lag is way overrated, its called powerband 5500-9000 turbo has insane power and response. I cant wait to get the Magnus-V5 and see how much power I have left to squeeze.

Nice Results! It was great working with you. That turbo still has a lot left in it

Looks like you lost some torque as well. I guess you are happier though, did you get better times?

From what I see on the graph the FPBlack at 32.16psi made 584.7hp and the 3582 at 31.85psi made 580.28hp. So unless I'm seeing this wrong, comparing apples to apples, the Black would be the winner here (in this one situation only), plus there was a 2-300rpm faster spool for the Black.
You really cant compare one to another and then change things like boost and timing. Not trying to sound like an A-Hole here especially because the time and money it takes for someone to do the testing in the first place. I also realize the much greater potential for the 3582, it would be my choice if I had the money thats for sure.
Just my $.02.

Im not going to go to far into this but look carfully at the graph. If you look closely at max boost on black its at 40 psi then tapers down to 32
If you look at the 3582 when pushed to 40 psi max boost it tapers down to 34. So actually the 3582 make almost 50 hp more than the black with one degree less of timing.
Every turbo is different some turbos you cant keep increasing boost to make power because they will spike really bad and power will taper off towards redline so you increase timing to compensate.
Its not about peak #'s for road racing its about flat powerband, usable rpm's and smooth throttle inputs.
Hope this helps.

Well the Black has a much more restrictive exhaust side then a 35R and the consequence of faster spool-up. That being said, anything other then an extremely long straight the Black is a superior turbo.

For drag racing a FP Black would be a superior turbo depending on the set up, for road racing there is no question the a 3582 has a better powerband and reliability. Keep in mind my PRM's stay between 5500 to 9000. And one thing the dyno does not show is the wastegate on the stock frame turbo creates allot of turbulence when at halft throttle, the TIAL external on the 3582 does not and helps modulate all that power around corners.
