Help! tuning question..basic tune

Hey guys,
I'm helping a buddy tune this evo 8 and we are having an issue.

The car mods are
3in exhaust turbo back
255 pump
twindisc
perrin filter
and evrything else is stock
boost is at 20psi.

using the tephra v5mod.

Here is the issue
I only see knock at 7k or at 7500. Its like 0 then all of a sudden its 10 or 15 at 7k and above.

Just need to know is it the tune, or something else.

I have attached my rom, and log sheets.

any advice would be great.

hey guys, I have a question

I have a quuestion about tuning and hope I'm approaching this the right way.

First before I touch anything, we did a boost leak test, fixed the exhaust leaks and checked the plugs to make sure everything was good.

Everything seemed ok.

In my first post, all I did was take my stock tune and put all the values in my tephra v5 tables.
From there i logged the car and used dyno vision to see the amount of power I was making. This was used just for testing purposes and saw that i was at 311.

What I noticed was that it was knocking real hi above 6500 so i lowered the timing.

I lowered the timing about 5 counts everywhere 6500+rpm throughout the load.

With this change, the knock is gone but i noticed that my hp is at 265.

My question is, am i approaching this the right way? Am I taking the correct steps to resolve the issue?

My methodology is that, the wideband is around 10.5-11 which I have no touched so currently the afr is not an issue.

I see knock at top end so I lowered the timing.

I will post my stock rom, my modified rom and also my new datalog.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

OK. Good so far. Now try adding back ONE degree of timing at a time. Data log between each incremental change. Ck knock and ck power.

Also try leaning AFR out a wee bit. 10.5:1 AFR is kinda rich. You are on 93 octane, correct? So shoot for 11.0:1 AFR. Even within a range of 11.0-11.2:1 should be good.

BTW, I don't see wideband in your data log. How do you know your AFR?

so should I leave the timing at stock for now? (seems to knock)
Lean it out so the afr is around 11.5 on top end and go from there?

Again boost is at 20psi and mods are:
3in exhaust turbo back
255 pump
twindisc
perrin filter

When I lowered the timing 5 counts below stock, then no knock.
Just want to make sure I approached it the right way.

Here are the two maps.
As you can see the trial 2 map should be the stock timing in the tephra v5 tables.
In the trial 2 map I got those high knock knocks.

The logs are with the new map.
