Great guys, Mike is very helpful and very knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone here in WNY. I took it there for a tune and a feeler. I'm having the car cammed and will be running an FP setup this spring, wont think twice about taking it there for all of my needs. I do have one question for you guys, I have been going back and fourth about running E85. It is readily available 5 minutes from my house. I know its hard to bench mark real dyno numbers but does anyone have an idea what kinda power I'd get by switching to E85? Thanks
do you have evoscan? Id HIGHLY recommend monitoring ur knock because I know of a handful of people who had their cobalts and stis blow a while after getting tuning done there.

We have knock sensors you know. On top of that, can't you hear a knock? And with a wideband we can monitor the ratio. Mike said he turned it upto 27lbs max and it never knocked once. I'm running 22lbs so I don't think I have a thing to worry about. I want to wait for evoscan till I have a nice GPS style device I can use. I don't want to lug around a laptop, I'd rather have something smaller attached to my dash so I can monitor all of the time. I also have Route 66 warranty for the next 5 years

^If you can hear knock you're in some serious trouble. Usually small counts of knock should not be able to be heard, but rather picked up by the ecu.

I'd recommend getting a wideband, if you don't already.

If you're honestly that worried just give STM a call and get a retune.

I'm not really worried. And I'll be getting a retune soon anyway when I have my cams studs and injectors installed. I'll probably only be on this tune for another month or so. And, I've seen thru Summit Racing they offer knock sensor lights, looks just like a small shift light that will flash if it senses a knock. Don't know if they're worth it. I think they run around 100 bucks

Did mike set up the check engine light to blink when you get knock on your tune?

All depends on how well you trust the tune. Personally I do not feel any need for one.

Nice man. I think I've seen your car at autozone, on nfblvd this past summer. Black with tints?

I work in the Falls and live on the Island.

I've never personally dealt with Inn-tune but the PO of my car got tuned there on a piggyback before the stock ecu days.

Yes no **** you have knock sensors every car does. The problem is HOW are you going to monitor it WHEN the knock happens if you don't have a program for data logging? And what the hell good does an wide band afr do when you CAN knock at ANY afr regardless if the timing is all jacked up? Even with an afr gauge reading you STILL need to use a serial cable and data logging software to accurately see what ur afr actually is.

And what the hell is the point of running that high of boost when you can adjust the timing, run less psi, and still make more power? It's obvious you really don't know much about cars or tuning. Gl running your setup. I suspect lots of blown engines in your future.

Geez, someone is a little grumpy

if you have a good tuner you should have no reason to do logging or worry about your car knocking. Maybe if you're an inexperienced self tuner, then yeah I might be worried, but I more than trust STMs capabilities to tune properly; my car runs PERFECTLY. BTW 27psi isn't really considered THAT high.

Im sure stm is ok, I'm saying innovative is junk and they can't tune their way out of a paper bag. I personally know more than a few people that have had their **** blow up like a year or sooner after getting work and tune done at innovative.

And even on a "good" tune what happens in the cold months? Your car should get a retune for warm weather and cold weather. If your ignition or spark plugs start to take a **** you could get knock regardless of tune and wouldn't even know it.

I'm just saying, a responsible tuner should take care of these issues before they become a problem. If this means tuning it themselves or getting help from a pro so be it.

And as for psi, it's better for the turbo to run less so why run that high when you can just advance the timing and adjust the fuel trims to run less psi?

Yes I agree with you on the part about innovative 100%, but STM is highly regarded as one of the best Evo tuning shops on the east coast. I mean Emery has set countless records, and just ran 8.7@165 this past summer. That speaks for itself.

While on the dyno Emery made sure the car would still perform flawlessly in the cold; he made adjustments to make sure it wouldn't act up when the temps drop. I'm anything but an expert when it comes to tuning, but I know the very basics. Yeah timing would make more sense, especially with a smaller turbo like the stocker, since it is getting close to maxed out on pump at around 27psi, after that its good for making torque, but it still dies off in the higher revs.
