As far as daily driving, the S2's are a pretty mild cam. No rough idling or loupy feeling. However there is the "Cam Creep" or whatever it's called when your under 2k RPM in low gears. The Cam wants to GO, even if you don't want to. It's kinda like it's accelerating or decelerating, one or the other, not maintaining. Combine that with the Exedy Twin clutch and it get's annoying sometimes in stop and go traffic. Honestly it's not bad and definitely tolerable, but that is the only downside.

s2's are driveable for dd. Mine gets driven everyday, another thing I noticed a big difference, with the s2 cam swap over my og hks 272 cams, same thing harder pull to redline, but then again on my setup when they went in a map rev 2 intake mani and milspec tb went in. Think about it most of us want an eventual goal of 400-500 realistically for a DD. These cams should never bottleneck around that power level. Id say personally enjoy the car for a while, then swap your turbo an 02 housing and ported exhaust manifold when you really wanna step up the power. Make power but keep it stealthy. haha
Good job ER

For sure go with the S2's if you are upgrading your turbo. The S1's are best for a stock turbo, but really the S2's are the better Cam.

Also, I do have Intercooler as well as the LICP.
Hi. Old thread and I'm not sure if you guys even post anymore but i figure it's worth a go
I've got an evo IX with the usual bolt ons and decided to buy some cams before remap. One things led to another and I'm now getting forged rods, the head skimmed, better headgasket, stronger headstuds and some s2 cams fitted. I know the s2s are recommended for a larger turbo but will they be more suited for my setup than the s1's would have because I'm going to be running around 28psi because of the rods, or would I have been better off with the s1's? It's very possible I might upgrade the turbo etc at some point so i guess going with them was a good idea, but it would be nice to know anyway
Thanks

Just remember to replace your springs, seats and retainers (grab the Beehive set from GSC). Also make sure you have a good tuner to properly take advantage of these cams. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Reviving this thread is giving me the itch to modify again. Not good because it's either a new turbo or full suspension. And I was considering selling too... Damn you.
Yeah I bought the spring and retainer kit and I'm confident the evo is in good hands
all this extra work was very unexpected. it went from just fitting the cams and EBC followed by a remap to tearing the engine apart because of my car doing pretty **** poor on a leakdown test, and seeing as he had to take the engine to bits to sort the valves and pistons it seemed stupid not to upgrade some parts while he was in there.... I've said this quite a few times since I bought the evo, "nothing's ever simple...." Sometimes you've just got to go with it I guess

Unfortunately, I sold the car. It was a hard decision, but I couldn't justify it anymore with a growing family and me never driving it. I do miss it though. The guy I sold it to had some good plans for it, but I don't think he is active on this forum so I don't know what kind of condition it's in now (Terry, are you there?).
