Very cool project, Iam sure this is an amazing car but was wondering how it compare's in the 60-130mph times that seems to be so popular these days.

An estimate would be interesting if you have one.
Awesome work again guys!

The way its geared it would only have a 2-3 shift in a 60-130 and be done. It could easily brake boost at the start and roll out from there.

Try a 60-150 in just 3rd, it turns it in a blink of an eye. I just did it the other day and that wasn't even to red line, 9k rpm. I didn't have to brake boost at all because JB has this thing so responsive its not even funny. I'm being dead serious when I say the dyno doesn't do any justice to the cars actual performance on the street.

Andrew, just a heads up, my brother Jason is living in Norfolk now as well... if you make a trip down there hit me up and I will shoot you his number... he will take you out for some drinks and body slams!

Sounds like time/money well spent!! Can't wait to hear about the times it puts down in the future. Any estimate on how much whp this transmission can take?
It sounds like it has more then enough now for a fun daily but if its capable of more thats always reassuring.

how about this. assuming the faster/consistent shifts from the auto but taking into consideration the driveline loss, what time would one expect to gain in the 1/4 over a manual?

All depends on the converter. A stock torque converter unlocked loses about 13% on the dyno. My restall loses about 20% mod to mod. It is still just as fast at the track.

I hadnt had a chance to dyno it but if this is any indication on how much of a difference it makes, my car at 20psi on a stock IX turbo with my 9:1 compression 2.4 ran an 11.41@120.5 on E85. This was with a fairly poor 1.76 60' as well. My next pass had a 1.64 but I chopped it to avoid getting kicked off the track. Its benchracing at this point but if the general rule of thumb is accurate, that would have put me at an 11.20 or so.

For reference we have a customer that made 394whp through a manual at 20psi on a stock turbo on E85 with his 2.0L and ran an 11.46@120 with a 1.58 60'. Makes me feel the auto has massive potential just as we have seen with our DSM auto program.

Do you expect to see similar results for the "R2" cam on an Evo VIII as you documented on Andrew's Evo IX? Looks like I may be in the market for a set come mid November, if all of the stars align and Full-Race sacrifices enough chickens to actually get some TS 8374s in stock.

We have only used one set in an Evo VIII and it was a 2.0L with a 3586. It did lose spool over the Kelford 272s that had been in it but it picked up 75whp.

Are these R2 cams for the ix designed to be installed straight up or do you have to degree them per the cam card?
