tuning help!

Well i bought a used evo. Tuned on 93 but i was told from previous owner it has a tune for e85 he didnt install a switch he switched them via his labtop. Well i got the teriox (excuse my spelling) cable and a labtop. Is there anyway i can check if it has another tune? How do i exactly do that? And lastly how do i switch tunes?

Thanks for the help

What year is your new evo? And welcome bud!

Okay this is what you need:

1.)Tactrix cable
2.)ECU Flash
3.) Find out who tuned the car and verify. Most tuners keep records of the vehicles they've tuned.
4.) Ask the previous owner to email you both tunes , or ask the tuner that tuned the car in the first place (Getting them from the tuner may be ideal, even after the previous owner gives you the tunes). Do not mix these up!
5.) I'd probably stop driving the car for now until you have all the the prerequisites.

Risks:
1.) E85 tune on the car and you're running pump gas, you can damage your internals/engine.
2.) 93 Tune on the car and you're running E85, you could damage your engine as well.
3.) The tune could be **** or the tuner might not know what he's doing.

What I would do as well (if you haven't done already):
1.) Compression test the engine.
2.) Boost leak test
3.) Change all the fluids with the proper ones (ie: transmission, rear dif, transfer case, coolant, engine oil, and possibly brake fluid).
4.) I'd also check the vin on the vehicle to make sure the car is straight.

You do not need EvoScan to reflash, that is used you logging. If the ECU is not upgraded to Tephra, and it doesn't sound like it is, then you would need to reflash the ECU with the alternate tune using EcuFlash. Do you have the alternate tune file from the previous owner? If not, you're out of luck.

BTW, you posted in the wrong forum and this will likely be moved or deleted.

The car is already tuned on pump, and e 85. I was wondering if i can swich them with my labtop?

The previous owner don't have the file on hand. I asked the tuner for it. Waiting on a reply. The tune is well know here.

The car is a 06 WW with the ssl package, ive always wanted this kind and was so pumped to finally find one.

If he uses the laptop to switch tunes, most likely the E85 tune is not in the ECU.. But you can check by making sure you have the apropriate .xml file to view the tune via ecuflash (which may already be there) and downloading or reading the current tune.

How is your fuel mileage?
If you were on an e85 tune, while running e10 (93), your mileage would suck.
And you'd likely get a dtc for ltft too rich
