update

Fabbed up a intake tube that comes from from bumper directly to intake as well as adding the stock air dam...same tune...1psi more on open dump

Nice man! I've been running a QTP cutout on my evo for around 5 yrs & I had one on my 97 GSX before that...

 

^^^ It's a good solid unit...i bumped it quite a few times.

 

I have my stock cat and cat back w a 3" down pipe w a cutout. I'm seeing about a 80hp difference open vs close...I need to fig out how to post my graph

 

Strange every car under 500whp with a 3 inch full exhaust on my shop dyno gains nothing DB between open and close on a cut out. The SP cutout failed on the dyno while i was tuning it. Then I had the apexi ats silencer which would bump me a 1-1.5 points richer under boost. Finally i've settled on the biggest varex oval muffler in 3 inch I could fit. Strange enough..... I dont even have to close the valve, the car is crazy silent with it full open.

wow very interesting for sure i loved the way my car sounded with just the down pipe on when i was installing a new exhaust

Those are some pretty good results for just opening a cutout! On a car we tuned, we only saw a 7 whp difference between opened and closed.
