Tune after new clutch
Tune after new clutch
100% stock IX MR here. I recently got my car tuned and ended up with 280whp. Two days later my clutch was slipping like crazzzyyy. Ended up replacing the old stock clutch with an act hdsd as well as the flywheel. Immediately after the tune the car felt much quicker than before, it was a very noticeable difference. Once I got it back after the clutch fix and after the break in period, I started opening it up and it just hasn't felt the same as immediately after the tune, before the clutch gave out. I've talked to the tuner and he said there may be adjustments needed because the clutch was on its way out when I dynoed the car. I'm wondering if anyone can confirm this because at the time of the tune, the tuner said he didn't see any signs of slipping on the dyno sheet. At 150 bucks for an adjustment, should I take it back in because of the new clutch?

Felt the same as in? maybe you're just getting used to the power. I can't see why it would need a retune....kinda sucks that he would charge for something that I'm sure if anything would need a minor adjustment. Then again, everyone has to eat I suppose.
Hasn't felt the same in terms of acceleration, I remember the day after the tune, the car felt like a kick in the pants once it got into boost. Could it be that it was slipping at low rpm and once the boost came on, it felt more dramatic than a car with a healthy clutch would?

new tune, more boost, more pressure. can find weak points real fast.. just like your clutch. have or do your own boost leak test, couplers rubber hose connections and throttle body seals etc. a boost leak test is done by most GOOD tuners prior to putting it on dyno, so as to rule out any leaks and ensure a proper tune. once you get it tuned its a whole new ball game..... best to have boost gauge and afr gauge to monitor your systems. and mostly a real good tuner. Possibly your weak slipping clutch was acting a bit like a loose torque converter does in an automatic. Just gave you an impression of better acceleration.

Drove the car yesterday and today and it felt better. These last two days have been actually hotter than any other day since I've gotten my car back after the clutch fix. Just as hot as the day when my car was tuned. Could this have something to do with the perceived difference? Maybe in the cold weather, the ecu is running the car conservatively? Like any other turbo car is should feel quicker in the cold.
