Stock turbo with mods.. Any guess on the numbers?

hey guys ive been around the evolutionm forums for a while and evony also.. i dont wright much only read.. because as i learned on other forums its better to search because everything has basically been covered...i have a evo 8 with the following go fast mods..

evo 9 turbo with 10.5 hotside
Cosworth m2 cams
Buschur intake
exedy twin-disc
Buschur downpipe
custom exhaust
greddy boost controller

its set to 16 pounds daily and 24 race.. its on a conservative tune.. the 2 step hits at 5500 and its at stock redline.. with that said i was wondering what you guys think my power output would be right now? i had the car street tuned but i want to get the car dyno tuned.. i also want to add an intercooler kit with a piping kit.. and make the tune alittle more agressive what kind of numbers you guys think i can do safely? what im basicly asking is..

1.when i go get my car retuned what should be my " goal number" as far as good numbers but not almost blowing up the motor numbers?
2.with the intercooler and piping what would be the possible outcome?

thanks guys.. :)

Somewhere between 325 and 335whp would be typical numbers. It seems I dont see too many cars with stock intercoolers these days but the main thing is it will allow you to run more boost with less heat soaking and therefore less knock. The LICP will offer definite gains in the 10whp range depending on the amount of boost you are running.

These are dynojet numbers by the way, but its important to not get hung up on numbers. It sounds like you have taken this into account though and arent looking to push it for no other reason than making a "number".

^^ Thats sounds a little low to me.I have the stock 8 turbo with invidia O2 housing,3" exhaust,HKS 280 cams,Injen intercoller pipe kit and Forge MBC. On 24lbs I dyno at 346awhp.I think after the IC with the IX turbo you should easily be able to hit the 350-360+ range easily... Just my $0.02 I could be wrong:)

P.S I used a Dynojet for my #'s

I've seen more but I tend to err on the low side and follow averages of cars I have tuned.

thanks guys that really helps... i just wanted to have some numbers in my head because when i got the car street tuned the guy told me at 16 i should be around 340whp and at 24 in the 400s ...

dawick3don3 Dec 24, 2008 11:19 AM

i am also only tuneing on 93 octane ..

340 - 400 sounds a little high even for 93 with the mods you have depending on the dyno you probably will make 320 + - 15

Not sure who tuned your car, and I dont want to know, but that is extremely optimistic. 340whp on a dynojet with your mods usually is 22psi +/- the overall state of the car. Remember there are those that make less for no reason and some that make more for no apparent reason.

I would think that at 24-25 you might see mid 350s (DJ), but again I generally err on the low side.

if you do the ic pipe kit then you should be roughly around 325-340 area.... my .02 would be to get a walbro 255 fp.... good luck!

oh ooohh! another "what should I get" thread

EvoDom Jan 7, 2009 04:16 PM

1. on a dynojet probably around 325-335 wheel hp range. Evo IX's love tunes my car eats them up lol

2. interooler piping and intercooler i saw gains in the 25 hp range to be honest from my previous tune., with no signs of heat soaking, (BYC intercooler, AGP LICP)

my car put down 330awhp with TBE, intake, MBC, BOV, MBC set at 22psi and thats mainly it, but i did a real aggresive tune. right on the verge of knocking.

now i put down 371 with intercooler, o2 dump, intercooler piping, FP wastgate acuator, MBC set at 25psi and full bolt ons for the stock turbo. im maxed out right now cant do antyhing else besides cam, turbo and meth.

goodluck with it...becarful..

overall answer

327 awhp :) goodluck

why 16 psi? thats even less than stock

^-- Please post the dyno sheet/numbers of your base run before any new tuning. I'd be really interested to see the numbers that 16psi puts down.
