EVO 9 2.4L 6466 GSC R2 Cams E85 28psi

First id like to make it clear the vehicles out of fuel & The elevation level is 4800ft+

-

This is one of those cars i just have to share. The engine bay on this vehicle is extremely unique and definitely one of a kind. I am really impressed with the spool up characteristics the 2.4 and R2 cams provided with the large 6466 turbo. This car spools so well for having such a large turbo.

Keep in mind the vehicle is out of fuel and only has a Walbro 416lph fuel pump on factory wiring (not rewired).

So the basic info:

ECU: Stock ECU / speed density - tephra v7 / mbc
State: CO / 4800ft~ above sea level
Temp: 77F
Dyno #: 588whp / 444wtq

wow pic looks good, Do you have more you could post?

Spool looks really really good :)

Its interesting that this car ran out of fuel.

Are you certain the scaling in vd is right? I tweaked a friends car and when i did a pull it was massively under powered... Then i realized he had 3-400lbs in the trunk and the tire size was off...

Ya the vd is right. its set to 4.11 gear and tire is correct and stuff. It is done at this power level on stock wiring. If you rewire it, it will be able to make a little more maybe.

is your friends rewired? fuel map has 7's in it uptop its 100% out of fuel. car needs another one of these pumps or a double pump 255 setup.

Great power and spool!

How are you finding the R2 cams tscompusa?

EvocentriK May 18, 2013 04:30 AM

Nice numbers. What's the point of high lift cams +oversize valves with stock head ports? I thought they were maxed flow wise at mid to low 10mm lift.

HsamehH May 18, 2013 06:18 AM

Tom do you like the R2 cams ,is there a noticable difference than the S2's ?

browningderek May 18, 2013 09:20 AM

Lookin good! The R2 cams don't slow spool at all... that's awesome! What rpm does the power start to fall? 8300ish?

CT9Asphixyation May 18, 2013 10:28 AM

I want to begin by saying thanks to Tom for putting in work so that I was able to make it to the track last night. That being said, the trip to the track went a little like this. I teched in at about 8:30, got in line and made my first pass ever with this setup at 9:30. I had NEVER launched the car at this power level before but I still managed a 11.3 @ 133 spinning hard through first and second with a 2.0 60'. Next pass was an 11.9 @ 129 because I missed second. The next pass was an 11.4 at 132 and my final pass before the track closed was an 11.1 @ 133, both with 1.9 60'. Traction is a huge issue as I have continental dws tires on factory pressure. I couldn't drop pressure because my gauge ran out of batteries lol. Track prep is awful on Fridays, no traction compound whatsoever. The car spools like a beast! Full boost by 4700 rpm on a turbo this size is no joke especially considering I'm on a non ported head, stock IM and stock TB. I couldn't be any happier with how my car runs and I cannot wait to get some better tires and upgrade my fuel system. More than satisfied with Toms tune and I would recommend him to anybody. Also fwiw, another forum member on here was indeed riding along with me during the VD pulls in case anybody was wondering.

Question to you, I was trapping the same MPH with the stock Evo 9 FD... i have a 2.4L with now a 4.11 FD.. What RPM were you at going threw the line?

CT9Asphixyation May 18, 2013 11:59 AM

5leeper-

I honestly wasn't paying much attention to the tach after I shifted into 4th but from what I remember it was around 8300ish.

juanmedina May 18, 2013 12:41 PM

What was the mph in the 1/8th mile? How much does the car weight?

BEKevo May 18, 2013 01:22 PM

That is a cleannn engine bay. Can't wait to see what this thing puts down, once you guys fix the fuel supply issue!

CT9Asphixyation May 18, 2013 03:19 PM

MPH in the 1/8th was 101-103 gaining an average of 30 MPH on the back half. Car is completely stock Evo 9 gsr weight minus emissions stuff and lightweight rims. I weigh 160.
