Mike's 608whp E85 LR2.3 FP red (twin scroll)

Mike had us pick his car up in Florida and bring it back for a build over the winter. It is a very clean 9 GSR that just needed some more beef to make the FP Red work the way he wanted. This is a twin scroll housing car rather than the new style single scroll. The results speak for themselves.

EnglishRacing LR2.3 with 10.8:1 compression
4 Piston ported cylinder head
Skunk2 intake manifold
2000cc injectors
Buschur Doublepumper fuel pump kit
GSC R2 camshafts
GSC valvesprings
ETS 4" intercooler
ETS exhaust

We are going to pull the Skunk2 now that the Magnus V5 has arrived and get as close to a back to back as we can. Nothing else is changing in the motor or combo at this time so it should be a pretty good comparison.

do you have the boost curve for this run?

Those 4 piston cnc heads are nice.

Nice numbers

Great Job Guys! That looks like a super fun car to rip it up in, the TRQ climbs quick and smooth!

So in for the results of the Magnus V5 swap!

600 whp with what I imagine is pretty good transient response. Very nice.

What is a LR 2.3? How is this derived? A 4G64 with sleeves to reduce bore size, 100mm crank and 156mm rods?

I'd like to know this as well.

Custom stroke crank is my guess. I'm curious as well though.

Please comment on this vs a 2.2 LR or 2.2 SLR build as well.

Really interested to see the Magnus V5 vs. the Skunk 2 back-to-back. That will give people a good idea what the stock(ish) manifolds do.

Does this have an 02 dump or just a 3" TBE?

Also, HTA Red or HTZ?

+1. I'm probably going with a Red on my build and been wondering if I should have my intake ported or wait a while to get a Magnus.

I'm also looking forward to the Magnus V5 vs Skunk2. I think the Magnus V5 will beat the Skunk2, but would like to see a nice single variable comparison, especially on a build that's making close to my power level.

+1 on the questions.

Custom crank and rods. After releasing the SLR2.2 info a few years ago I do not list details the same. This is a 4G64 block though, yes.

From all the testing I have done the Skunk only makes a power difference above 6000 and has a habit of killing spool below that. I have a car that lost 100 ft lbs at 5500 from stock to the ported Skunk. I imagine that when it goes back together on the Magnus it wont have that issue.

Erik@MIL.SPEC May 3, 2016 09:06 PM

If the Magnus gains spool on the Skunk with that huge plenum, that will be interesting.

To go from ported stocker to Magnus is about a $1300 deal with new UICP.
