just to show you how much better Navi is in Japan...

Eclipse rocks! of course, my Eclipse only has aux input...
15 years ago I saw Sony HD monitor from Japan and it was surreal, like looking into a mirror. So called US HD sucks!!! Lower expectation gets craps!
this country is delayed about 20 years when it comes to all the goodies ... hi tech toys, cars, sex!

VW and Google are working on a nav system that looks even better than the Eclipse system, believe it or not. It uses Google Maps and Google Earth and does 3D renders, too. And it will be coming to the USA.
Japanese Nav is in 3d because since the country is stacked on top of itself, it sees the land in "levels" of depth. It uses people's cell phone's and pinpoints a certain person's exact location depth-wise on the map. I got that schpeel at CES from an Eclipse rep he said they have the technology to do that because in Japan there's only one cell carrier so much easier to get all that info gathered together. And for anyone who didn't know, the US has units that are HDD Nav. Eclipse makes on, Pioneer makes one and so does Kenwood. All but Kenwood let you store music and movies to the drive. Wanna feel better about your equipment, go on Alpine's web-site and choose to see Australia's products, they're actually about 2 years BEHIND us.
yes but will it be coming in an aftermarket unit, or just in pillow-biting VWs?
Nvidia is working on something like that also.
And yes, the japanese have a much higher demand for something like that because of crazy address systems that they use and a demand for vertical location as well as horizontal

Very tight though, Probably even legal for the US since the driver can't get "distracted" by the movie.
