AVIC-D1 install problems....

ok i just got done installing the Orbital double-din conversion with hvac relocation...

wired my headunit to the cars harness with an adapter harness etc etc...

now nothing works...

clock, keyless entry, manual locks (via door button), and above all the head unit doesn't work...

the horn works just fine but not the keyless...

is this just a simple blown fuse problem or is there something else wrong with it?

Check the fuses inside the car and under the hood. You probably blew one under the hood. Also check the wiring. Not sure how many orange wires are on the aftermarket harness but if there are 2 (one with a white stripe) and you hooked the orange wire from the D1 up to the wrong one, you may experience the problems you're having now. Good Luck.

When you pull it out, it should look like a solid piece of metal shaped like a U or a Z
within the clear plastic. If its burned or incomplete or broken, then replace it.

ok update...

one fuse was blown. it was the radio fuse under the hood...i switched it out with the dome light fuse connected everything to see if it would blow again and it didnt however nothing works still...

further detail into the problem....my locks, hazard lights etc only work when the car is on...but when the car is off i cannot lock the doors or have my hazard lights on....basiclly all my electrical systems don't work when the car is off (dome light included)

i figured maybe it was the alternator fuse but thats good...i went through all fuses under the hood and they're all good except that one (dome light)

any help or ideas?

nvm...got everything to work...once i replaced the blown fuse everything worked with the navigation...now i just have to figure out where to mount the ipod modulator and the XM Navtraffic modulator....maybe under the passenger seat again?

oh also is there a good 'how to' as far as taking apart the center console so i can run some wires through there for the GPS and the XM and the ipod dock?

For future reference, dont replace a blown fuse with another fuse in the car. Domelights 99% of the time run on the same cicuit as the stereo and wont fix your problem.

yeah i learned that the hard way. i guess thats why the two fuses were tied together with that yellow plastic thing...inticating to replace them together.
