Stereo Noise

Guys.
I have annoying electrical engine noise on a recently installed stereo. I would like some troubleshooting advice. Its an avic-n3 headunit with an old amp and I have the feeling its the amp since it came out of my old obera after I rolled it. Can you guy sassist with how to verify that the amp itself is bad.

Does the noise correlate with the engine rpm?

one of your wires is probably touching some form of metal behind the head unit... I had that happen with my old car, i went behind the unit and soldered all the wires and taped them off so no bare wire was coming in contact with any metal... just check to see if there is any wiring without the plastic coating, if you see one without it just tape it off... also if your cabin speakers aren't connect to the amp, your just using the amp for a sub, disconnect the amp and listen to just the cabin speakers...
